Fnatic, CompLexity qualify for DreamHack Winter

Days after the European qualifier finished, the North American teams have bee decided. The long running gaming festival will hold an 8 team, $50,000 tournament from November 25th-26th.

The North American qualifiers for DreamHack Winter have finally been completed. The top two from this qualifier will be joined by the two European teams who qualified earlier this week and four teams from the BYOC tournament at the event. The teams will battle it out in Jönköping, Sweden for their share of a $50,000 prize pool from November 25th-26th.

Like the European qualifier, this tournament featured a double elimination, best of three bracket for most of the tournament, though the upper and lower bracket finals were played as best of five. Fnatic and compLexity qualified for DreamHack, with fnatic breezing through the upper bracket. Fnatic didn’t drop a game until the upper bracket final, where they defeated coL 3-1. CompLexity had a more difficult road to the final, having to contend with Team Liquid and Cloud9 in order to advance.

Waiting for compLexity in the lower bracket was FaZe. After being sent to the lower bracket by Tempo Storm in a close series, FaZe went on a run, defeating Method, Cloud9 and Team Liquid to make it to the final. Fresh off a tough series loss by fnatic, coL was ready for the European-North American mixed team and managed to defeat them in a tight five game series.
