We are reaching the end of Closed Beta, less than 1 week left

Less than a week left before Closed Beta is shutdown, and the game is one step closer to Public Release.
Yesterday we got the dreaded news, the Overwatch Closed Beta will in fact be going down for some time before the Open beta and eventual release. After around 17 weeks of Closed Beta, and 2 stresstest weekends, the development team is now confident they have done enough testing and the game is ready for release. They are shutting down the Closed Beta servers on April 25th.
Jeff Kaplan has taken the opportunity to thank everybody in the Overwatch community, both beta testers and OnlyWatchers, in the below video:
We don't expect many more changes to the game to happen before May 24th. This means that the PS4 and Xbox One versions will also be available during the Open Beta period (May 5-9). People who have pre-ordered any version of the game will be able to play from May 3rd.
When the official release does happen, and everyone who has bought the game will be able to play, some things will change:
- All in-game progression acquired throughout the Beta phases will be reset.
- The Arcade modes will cycle every week.
- The game will stay in competitive Pre-Season.
- MMR might or might not be reset, to facilitate the chaos that will happen after the reset of competitive ranks.
Of course GosuGamers will continue to cover Overwatch when it is fully released, and we are as excited as everybody to see what the future holds for this marvelous game.
