A Comprehensive Guide to GosuGamers' Functionality

The crew here at GosuGamers.net puts in a lot of time and effort to provide the community with all sorts of resources. Some of us watch every single match, and enter the results into the biggest database in eSports, while others provide you with quality articles and tournament recaps. We understand that every visitor to our site originally came here for a specific reason, and therefore might not have taken the time to discover all that this site has to offer. So allow us to highlight all features on our site:

News & Featured Articles

We have a large editorial team dedicated to Overwatch that turns their own passion for the game into content for the community every week (or even day). This is probably the section of the site most people are familiar with, as we frequently see discussions pop up on all media about our content. You can expect a new piece of writing virtually every day, and the collection of subjects we cover is wide enough that there will always be something interesting to read.

Subjects include:

  • Tournament announcements, backed up by our match database that is highlighted below, so you don't have to miss a single event
  • Event recaps, so you can keep up to date even if you weren't able to watch live
  • Interviews with players/teams and other community members, sometimes from offline events
  • Changes in the competitive scene, including roster swaps and new organizations entering Overwatch
  • In-depth analysis of the scene, the game, and its mechanics
  • And much more!

Event Hubs

GosuGamers.net is first and foremost a resource for all eSports fans. Our extensive database of events and matches, supported by its own dedicated team, sets us apart from other websites. Even if you may not be interested in all the subtleties of competitive gaming, you will still be able to make good use out of our Event Hubs. Because we keep track of all professional matches, and we keep all information stored, you can find whatever you need when looking into tournaments on our site.

You can expect to learn the following from our tournament pages:

  • Prizepool distribution
  • Match schedule
  • Broadcast addresses
  • Up-to-date brackets as well as Group Stages depending on the format of the tournament
  • Related articles, if you want to learn more about the ins and outs of the specific situation

To find Event hubs and Tournament pages, either go to the dedicated page (for bigger events) or click on the event logo on the matchticker.  Below is an example of what you can expect from a bracket (GosuGamers Overwatch NA Weekly):

Matchticker & Match Pages

Even for tournaments that aren't organized by ourselves, we make sure the brackets we host on the site are always up-to-date. Because of this, we always know which matches are being played, about to be played, or have just been played. All of this information can be found on our Match ticker here. Not only do we record scores and winners, but we also keep track of very specific details of as many games as we can. This information is available on our match pages, which are made for every match:

When you click on a match in our match ticker, or in a bracket or group stage, you will find a page very similar to this. You can find the following information, depending on how far along the match is:

  • The teams, tournament and time of the match
  • Either the livestream or VOD (if available) of the match
  • Spoiler-protected results, both matchwise and per game played
  • The ability to GosuBet, as explained below
  • Specific map information, as well as Payload progress or Control point progress per round
  • Recent performances of both teams, both against each other and in general

Recently, we also released our own Chrome Extension that offers one-click access to the matchticker of all games on the site you are interested in. For more information on that, please visit this link.

GosuBet

Attached to our matchticker is a system we call GosuBet. Through virtual currency, we have made it possible for you to bet on upcoming Overwatch matches. For now, it's just a fun minigame to show your support for teams and also show how familiar you are with the competitive scene. In the future however, we will add Overwatch to the list of sections that will reward prizes to the top GosuBetters of every month. So you might as well get used to the system now!

You start with 50 Cells, and the goal is to make the right wagers and increase that amount. Feel free to be brave at the start though, because we allow you to reset to 50 Cells if you ever drop below that number.

To bet, you navigate to the relevant match page, find the GosuBet section and input your bet. Afterwards you will be able to find the betting results in the same place as well. And for a general overview of the leaderboards you can also take a look to the right of the matchticker. Finally, we also list the odds for every upcoming match right on the matchticker so you can base your decisions on what other people have already bet.

GosuRankings

Possibly our most well-known feature: the GosuRankings. Built upon our database of matches, we have created a ranking algorithm that automatically keeps track of the performance of teams compared to their competition. The result is an ever-changing list of all active teams that can be found here. While you might not agree with the rankings 100% of the time, we approached the algorithm in a way that the longevity of a team will always be favoured over a single surprise performance. The more matches played, the more accurate the rankings will become.

Every team receives points based on their performance in matches. A win will give you a boost in points, while a loss will take away some of your points. The classification of the event as well as the collection of other teams in the bracket will affect how many points are on the line.

Team & Player Profiles

Because we cover so many tournaments every year, our database allows us to analyse a great deal of both players and teams. To find such information, we host a profile of every player and team that has played a game on the site.

Team Profile pages are the hub to go to if you want to learn about things such as: team roster (changes), team performance, recent match results, recent match VODs and teams' upcoming matches. You can reach team profiles in various ways such as:

  • Clicking on their name in our GosuRankings
  • Clicking on the team's name in brackets/group stages and on our match ticker
  • Found linked on Player profiles
  • They are always linked in articles when they are mentioned

Player profile pages are very similar, but focus on individual players. Often times players haven't always been in the same team, and so it's interesting to see which teams they played for before. Furthermore, all other information such as VODs of the player, recent matches, and recent performance are also easily available. Player profiles can be reached through their Team profile, by article links or by clicking on their name on match pages.

Streams & VODs

The beauty of eSports is that everything gets broadcasted (for free) on the internet. Not only are there live events every week, but you can also tune in to a player streaming the game at every point in time. To allow you to discover more livestreams from a variety of different streaming sites, we have setup an ever-increasing database of streams that can be filtered by language and purpose. Both online and offline streaming channels can be found here, and if you still miss one you can always add them yourself!

We already mentioned it a few times, but if there is a VOD available of a match, we will find it and add it to our site. This way, you don't have to search for them yourself, and you can just find them on the match's page. If you are looking for very specific VODs, you might not want to go to a match page however, but to our dedicated VODs page. The filters enable you a measure of control to find exactly what you need, including map specific searches! A note to keep in mind, is that we cannot add past broadcasts from Twitch to the database just yet. We will however gladly let you know of those sources as well in articles and on request!

Social Media

Because we love eSports and the Overwatch community, we are very active on a variety of different social media channels. First and foremost, our own forums are the place to discuss anything and everything with other fans that are as dedicated as you are. The forums are also a perfect place to request content that you would like us to make, such as interviews with specific teams or analysis of specific areas of the game.

Secondly, we make active use of our Twitter and Facebook accounts. We understand you aren't constantly refreshing our site (why would you if you can just play Overwatch?), so we make it as easy as possible for you to still keep track of new content on the site. You can follow us on Twitter (@GosuOverwatch) for notifications of new articles, as well as word on current matches. And if you need to contact us in any way, Twitter is usually the best way.

If you are more a Facebook kind-of-person, you can like our page here, and keep up to date of content that way. We have, and will again in the future, host giveaways on both our Facebook and Twitter. So don't miss out on the chance to win some Overwatch goodies!

Finally, we have our own open Discord server which anybody can join. While we use it to communicate with teams during our own events, it is also a place where you can find and chat directly with plenty of other fans. It might not be Twitch chat, but its a perfect place to discuss things as they happen.

We hope after reading this, you are now familiar with everything this site has to offer. If you still think you are missing something, don't hesitate to give us your feedback since we are always looking for new ways to serve the community!
