Zenless Zone Zero teases new S-rank agents Phoenix and Severian for Version 3.3

Phoenix and Severian will be playable in Version 3.3.

HoYoverse has officially revealed Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3’s next playable Agents, Phoenix Reffaella and Severian Lowell. Both characters have been featured in previous versions, with Severian appearing before Version 3.0, while Phoenix recently made a hilarious, memorable appearance in Version 3.2’s story.

Who is Phoenix Reffaella in Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3?

Phoenix Reffaella from the Krampus Compliance Authority will be an S-rank Fire Anomaly Agent.

In Version 3.2, she makes a brief appearance at the beginning of the story as she tries her hardest to make it to Amber Hall, before showing up again towards the end. However, players really haven’t heard any significant dialogue from her just yet.

Her Agent Record does give players a much better idea of what Phoenix is actually like. According to Zhao, aside from the boss, no one in Krampus can beat her, although giving Phoenix a flashy title like the "Unbeaten Legend" would probably be enough to make her fall over from embarrassment.

Dialyn, meanwhile, describes Phoenix as fun to hang out with, although apparently bringing Senior Zhao along is a necessity to deal with all the "unexpected situations" that tend to follow her. One very flustered Patrolboo also recalls having to tell Phoenix, "You can't sleep in the middle of the road!!!"

There also appears to be something much stranger going on with Phoenix. An experimental report included in her Agent Record claims that its subject is "unable to die", with their body drawing on concentrated Ether reserves when their vitals decline and entering a state described as "transcendence".

Who is Severian Lowell in Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3?

Meanwhile, Severian Lowell will be an S-rank Wind Attack Agent from the Metropolitan Order Division of New Eridu Public Security (NEPS).

Severian has been teased since Version 1.1 through dialogue between Phaethon and his younger brother, Seth Lowell. He then first appeared as a commission-exclusive NPC in Version 2.6 as Cissia's boss.

Severian's playable model has gone through significant changes since then, most notably his outfit, and he will also be the first Agent to wield a giant sword.

His Agent Record paints him as one of New Eridu's most intimidating Public Security officers. Cissia admits she has "never once seen him smile", before dramatically describing her boss as a "real, genuine, absolute demon lord". From Version 2.6 onwards, Cissia would call Severian the “Demon Lord” and often paint a negative picture of him whenever she spoke about him.

That reputation extends well beyond NEPS, it seems. In the Agent Record, Phoenix notes that Krampus has Severian on file, with the instruction to "avoid conflict with this individual" apparently written in huge red, bold text and repeated three times.

Seth offers a slightly different view of his older brother. While he says everyone considers "Commissioner Severian Lowell" a role model for Public Security officers, Seth certainly does not, even grumbling about Severian failing to come home at the time he said he would.

Zhu Yuan also hints at a much softer side to the commissioner, saying Severian seemingly waters her tomatoes and Senior Qingyi's plants whenever everyone else is out on field duty, although she admits she still cannot imagine discussing much with him beyond work.

When will Phoenix and Severian come out in Zenless Zone Zero?

No exact release date has been announced for either S-rank Agent. However, both Phoenix and Severian will arrive in Version 3.3, which is expected to launch around the third week of October based on ZZZ's standard six-week banner lifecycle.
