Sparxie is Honkai: Star Rail's first Elation DPS character, and lets you treat battles like a livestream where she mogs enemies by engagement farming.
We are now in the second half of Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.0, and with it a new 5-star character has gone live: Sparxie, the game's first Elation DPS character. If you want to get into the new Elation meta, then Sparxie should be well worth the Stellar Jade you spend–or maybe donate to her livestream is a better way to put it?
Sparxie wields the Fire element and follows the Path of Elation, with her kit centered around consuming a whole lot of skill points for a huge burst of damage from an “Aha Instant” and the subsequent barrage of Elation skills. If you're still unfamiliar with how the new Path of Elation works in combat, check out our Yao Guang guide where we explain how this new in-game Path works.
Anyway, if you want to slot in Sparxie into your teams, read on as we break down her abilities, plus her best Light Cones, relics, and teammates!
Sparxie build guide in Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.0
Sparxie's kit is built around her skill, Boom! Sparxicle's Poppin', which lets her starts a livestream and enter the ‘Engagement Farming’ state. While Engagement Farming is active, Sparxie can repeatedly consume skill points to randomly gain either “Straight Fire” or “Unreal Banger”. Straight Fire grants both Punchlines and skill points while Unreal Banger grants only skill points.
Once you run out of skill points to consume or decided to finalise the livestream, Sparxie's skill will then enhance her basic attack into then enhanced basic attack Bloom! Winner Takes All, which deals DMG to the designated enemy target and any units beside it. Consuming skill points during Engagement Farming also increases the damage multiplier of this enhanced basic attack.
Sparxie's Talent, Sleight of Sparx Hand, also improves her skill when she is in the "Certified Banger" state after an Aha Instant. While in the Certified Banger state, Sparxie's enhanced basic attack will deal 1 extra instance of DMG to a random attacked enemy target for every 1 instance of Engagement Farming triggered.
Then there's Sparxie's Elation skill, Signal Overflow: The Great Encore!, which further improves her skill by granting ‘Thrill’ points that can offset her skill point consumption while Engagement Farming. In addition, it also deals Elation DMG to all enemies.
While Sparxie's primary method of gaining Punchlines is through her skill, you can also use her ultimate, Party's Wildin' and Camera's Rollin', to gain more Punchlines and deal damage based on Sparxie's ATK and Elation stat to all enemies.
While the abilities we've mentioned above are clearly geared towards having Sparxie being an Elation DPS, some of her major Traces are geared towards buffing her Elation teammates. This implies Sparxie may shift towards being an Elation Sub-DPS in the future once more Elation DPS characters have been released.
Anyway, let's get into Sparxie's A2 Trace, Sweet! Punchline Signing, which increases her Elation stat by 5%, up to a maximum increase of 80%, for every 100 ATK she has that exceeds 2000. Her A4 Trace, Dazzling! Persona Kaleidoscope, lets her gain 2/4/8 Punchlines and 1/1/4 Thrill points after using her ultimate for every 1/2/3 Elation characters in the party. Meanwhile, Sparxie's A6 Trace, Frenzy! Palette of Truth and Lies, increases the Crit DMG of all allies by 8% for every 1 Punchline currently owned, up to a maximum Crit DMG increase of 80%.
Finally, using Sparxie's Technique, Content Monetization, in the overworld inflicts nearby enemies with the “Blocked” debuff that prevents them from attacking you. When entering combat against an enemy with the Blocked debuff, Sparxie deals DMG to all enemies and recovers skill points for the entire party at the start of battle.
When using Sparxie in combat, you should have the mindset of a streamer and just use her skill for Engagement Farming as much as possible. Be mindful of how many skill points you have at any given time. Make sure her other teammates use basic attacks or any skill point-generating abilities so that Sparxie has enough skill points for Engagement Farming once she takes her turn.
When leveling up Sparxie's abilities, make sure to have all her abilities maxed out.
Sparxie's best Light Cones, relics, and teammates
Light Cones
Sparxie's best Light Cone is, of course, her signature: Dazzled by a Flowery World. This Light Cone increases its wearer's CRIT DMG by 48%. And while they are on the field, for every 1 Elation character in the team, increases the Skill Point upper limit by 1, up to a max increase of 3. For every 1 Skill Point the wearer then consumes, enables the Elation DMG dealt by them to ignore 5% of enemy targets' DEF, stacking up to 4 times. If 4 or more Skill Points are consumed in the same turn, the wearer also gains "Stream Promo," which increases all allies' Elation by 20%. Light Cone effects of the same type cannot stack.
If you're not pulling for Sparxie's signature, then you have two 4-star alternatives to choose from: Today's Good Luck and Mushy Shroomy's Adventures.
Today's Good Luck increases its wearer's Crit Rate by 12% and increases their Elation stat by 12% after using an Elation skill. The Elation stat bonus can stack twice. Meanwhile, Mushy Shroomy's Adventures increases its wearer's Elation stat by 12% and increases the Elation DMG taken by all enemies by 6% for 2 turns after they use an Elation skill. Of these two, Today's Good Luck is the superior option, though be mindful that it can only be acquired from the Battle Pass.
Relics
For Sparxie's Cavern of Corrosion relics, your go-to should be the 4-piece Ever-Glorious Magical Girl set. It increases her Crit DMG by 16% and lets her Elation DMG ignore 5% of enemy DEF. The amount of enemy DEF ignored can also be increased by 1% for every 5 Punchlines gained, stacking up to 10 times.
As for Sparxie's Planar Ornament relics, go for the Tengoku@Livestream set. It grants her another 16% bonus Crit DMG passively then adds a further 32% Crit DMG for 3 turns after she consumes 3 or more skill points in one turn.
If you're looking for another set to use while farming for a good Tengoku@Livestream set, you can also go for the Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm set, assuming you have Yao Guang in your Sparxie team. The Izumo Gensei set increases its wearer's ATK by 12% and grants them 12% Crit Rate if there is at least one other character in the team with the same Path as the wearer.
The main stats you should go for in Sparxie's relics are as follows:
- Body: Crit Rate–Crits are your primary way of boosting Sparxie's Elation DMG output, and since she already gets a ton of Crit DMG from her kit and relic set bonuses, you should build more Crit Rate through her relic main stats
- Feet: ATK%/Speed–You need to build a ton of ATK to make the most out of Sparxie's A2 Trace, so having it as the main stat for as many of her relics as possible will go a long way towards meeting that stat goal. If your other relics let you reach the ATK threshold, you can go for Speed for more turns
- Planar Sphere: ATK%–Since Elation DMG doesn't scale with Element DMG%, you're better off using this slot to help you meet Sparxie's ATK stat requirement
- Link Rope: ATK%/Energy Regeneration Rate–Same logic as the main stat choice for the Feet slot, though Energy Regeneration Rate is not as important as Speed for Sparxie so we recommend going for ATK%
Yao Guang's stat goals pretty much boil down to getting as much Speed and Crit stats as possible. You want to have at least 160 Speed, though 200 Speed is a sweet spot you can go for if your substat rolls are good. As for her Crit stats, aim to have at least a 1:2 Crit Rate/DMG ratio. A 1:3 ratio is a fairly attainable optimal line, though you don't need to wear yourself out grinding for it.
Sparxie's stat goals pretty much boil down to getting at 3,600 ATK to make full use of her A2 Trace and reaching a good Crit Rate/DMG ratio. Once you meet the ATK threshold, prioritise building as much Crit Rate as possible since Sparxie gets a lot of Crit DMG from her kit and relic set bonuses already. You can run Sparxie on base Speed if you have an ATK% relic on her Feet slot, but if you're running Speed on that slot instead make sure to reach the 134 Speed breakpoint.
Teammates
In Version 4.0, Yao Guang won’t have that many options for teammates since the only other Elation character will be Yao Guang, who is available to pull for the entirety of the update. Yao Guang greatly increases the amount of damage your team deals during an Aha Instant and can trigger an extra one using her ultimate. Simply put, the core of your early Elation team will be Sparxie and Yao Guang.
Sparkle will be your best non-Elation support pick for this core, since Sparxie consumes a lot of skill points. With that said, supports with DMG boosting abilities that don't scale off ATK% or DMG% like Tribbie and Cipher are good alternatives.
As for the sustain, you can go with whichever healer or shielder you want. But your best bet will be Dan Heng Permansor Terrae for his reliable shielding and debuff removal, as well as the fact that he's a free character.
