Honkai: Star Rail returns to Penacony in Version 3.8, as Constance the Dahlia has been revealed to become playable over a year after she was first revealed.
The Flame-Chase journey in Amphoreus is nearing its end, as Honkai: Star Rail has begun the drip-marketing for Version 3.8 by revealing a new 5-star character with ties to Penacony instead: Constance, the Dahlia. Constance was first revealed all the way back in January 2024 in the Myriad Celestia Trailer — “A Night of Ever-Flame: Scene 33” as a member of the Annihilation Gang.
The “A Night of Ever-Flame” trailer notably served as a red herring for the Penacony storyline, with almost every player at the time assuming that the Annihilation Gang would be the primary antagonists of the planet's story. Instead, it was later revealed that Acheron unceremoniously slew their leader, Duke Inferno, in order to steal their invite to the Charmony Festival, and subsequently forced the group to scatter.
Constance was among Duke Inferno's “children” alongside Akash the Tuner, Dubra the Scribe, and Caterina the Shacklebound, with each of them ordered to oppose one of the many factions attending the Charmony Festival. Constance, described by the late Duke Inferno as his “most ambitious and exceptional child,” was positioned against the Garden of Recollection, followers of the Aeon of Remembrance Fuli.
But while Constance will most likely be involved with the Path of Remembrance in the game's story, her in-game Path will instead be Nihility while wielding the Fire element. Constance will notably be the game's fourth character to have the Fire-Nihility Path-element combo after Guinaifen, Jiaoqiu, and Fugue.
Many players are also expecting Constance to be a Break character, owing to certain similarities she shares with Fugue. Fugue, the premier Nihility support character of the Break team archetype, was released in Honkai: Star Rail's final 2.X update, Version 2.7. Constance will be released in the game's final 3.x update, Version 3.8.
Constance is expected to be released alongside Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.8, sometime in mid-December.
