Nod-Krai is starting off strong with the appearance of Lauma!
Genshin Impact has revealed that Lauma is coming as the next playable character for Version 6.0! Described as the “Maiden of the Grove”, not much is known about this mysterious, graceful elk lady, but it seems like she’s set to play an integral part in the story of Nod-Krai. Whether she’s with us or against us though, is still left up in the air.
Lauma set to debut in Genshin Impact Version 6.0
This is not our first time meeting Lauma. She featured heavily in the Nod-Krai teaser “Song of the Welkin Moon Teaser: Ballad of the Moonlit Night”. She described herself as a “loyal emissary and Scion of Hyperborea”.
According to the teaser posted by Genshin Impact on their official social channels, Lauma is revealed to be part of a group called the “Frostmoon Scions”, who are described to be the “indigenous residents of the land.” It is further revealed that the Frostmoon Scions are “too ancient, too stuck in their ways, too rooted in worship of a god that they have never seen.”
The Frost Moon God is part of the ancient trio of sister-goddesses known as the “Moon Sisters”: Aria, Sonnet, and Canon. However, it is still not known which sister holds the title of “Frost Moon.”
Lauma stands as the “agent” for the absent god, and is known as the “Moonchanter”–someone who the Frostmoon Scions believe to have a connection with the “Goddess of the Frost Moon”. The Scions view Lauma with deep respect, however underneath her gentleness seems to be a harder edge.
It seems like Lauma, and in assumption the Frostmoon Scions, don’t traditionally have the Vision we’re all familiar with, and instead uses a variant known as a “Moon Wheel”. Genshin Impact revealed that her Moon Wheel is Dendro, although her preferred weapon of choice and her role is yet to be known. It’s most likely that Lauma will be a 5-star character, and will also have the ability to utilise the “Lunar-charged” reaction, a new and unique elemental reaction introduced by Ineffa in Version 5.6.
