MrBeast lands in Fortnite with a $1 million extreme survival challenge

YouTuber MrBeast is bringing cosmetics and a $1 million tournament to Fortnite.

Prolific YouTuber MrBeast is finally joining Fortnite as a skin, following the battle royale game teasing his arrival during its live Chapter 3 finale event. This is a big get for Fortnite, considering that MrBeast is currently the most subscribed-to creator on YouTube, and many of those subscribers will likely flock to the game to pick up his skin.

In typical MrBeast fashion however, the content creator is bringing a $1 million in-game tournament to Fortnite, because why stop at skins? MrBeast is known for running challenges on his channel with jaw-dropping cash rewards - like $1 million hide-and-seek games or ‘Last to take hand off Lamborghini, keeps it’ challenges. He once gave a random passerby $300 dollars to fly to Paris and get him a baguette, flight included, so this challenge is par for the course.

In his new Fortnite challenge, players will drop into a custom-built island and vie for high scores in an ‘extreme survival challenge’. The Fortnite blog describes this challenge as a ‘MrBeast-inspired experience', where players will, “... avoid hazards, collect coins, and survive extreme challenges to earn ‘Score’.” The objective is to earn as much Score as you can before time runs out in the match.

The Top 5 highest scores will earn $1 million, and the top 100,000 players will get a unique in-game umbrella. The challenge will go live from 12pm to 3pm ET on December 17, but you can get some practice sessions in beforehand by using the island code 7990-6907-8565 and scoping things out early from 9am ET on December 13 onwards.

Players can try out the challenge as many times as they like to get the highest core, so give it a shot. If you just want to pick up MrBeast’s in-game cosmetics, you’ll be able to grab those via the Item Shop from 7pm ET on December 14 onwards. There will be two MrBeast skins available for purchase, each with two different styles you can equip, along with the usual accessories and a ‘Beast Blastin’’ emote. The skins will be part of Fortnite’s Icon Series skins, which include other celebrities like Ariana Grande, Ninja and Bruno Mars.

Fortnite Chapter 4 launched last weekend with Doom Eternal and The Witcher-themed skins, and a host of Unreal Engine 5.1 visual upgrades. A collaboration with My Hero Academia will launch later in December too.
