Singaporean teams Zenith and First Departure took command of their respective groups, each clinching a spot in the tournament's playoffs.
Group A saw the early exit of 2 teams who competed on The Asia 2012, MiTH.Trust and 1st.Vn. While First Departure was the favorite because of their recent activity and results, Invasion.Gigabyte pulled off quite the upset via manhandling MiTH.Trust on a pause-laden game. 1st.VN never really had a chance in the competition and has actually been on a slump lately, dropping out on the first round of their most recent performance (VN Armaggedddon) prior to this game.
The highlight of this group was the clash of the carries on MiTH.Trust and First Departure. Despite wonderful micro from Lakelz that saw him building a 13-min Radiance and farming all over the map, Meracle's Anti-Mage was still able to do much more on both team fights and solo pick offs.
Group B, on the other hand, belonged to the 2 most distinguished teams of the group. Zenith is looking to be on good farm after winning the FD2L, boasting of a perfect record on their slate. Mineski also advances, with 2 wins under their name.
One of the group's most exciting game was Zenith's second match, where they were apparently en route to their second straight stomp. This game was against Dreamz. After being on a very sizeable lead, Zenith engaged on ill-advised team-fights and spent gold on unnecessary buybacks. Julz' Puck punished the fragile line-up of the Singaporean team, building a Dagon which he eventually fully upgraded. That item choice was questionable though, as it all went downhill for his team after the carries of the opposing team were able to buy their BKBs.
