The Defense heads into tie breakers

The Defense group stage concludes after almost two months of action. In the next week, tie breakers will determine the final top four of group C as well as the standings of the other groups.

After 8 weeks of playdays with a break over the holidays, the group stage of The Defense comes to an end. While there are still matches to be played out, including tie-breakers, most decisions have been made.

Keep in mind that first and second place of each group will advance to the Upper Bracket, whereas the third and fourth will drop immediately to the Lower Bracket.

Group A:

Mousesports is leading group A with a clean record and they can keep that record by winning over Virtus.pro. While the Germans will remain seated as first place, VP needs to win at least one game out of the remaining two to advance into the playoffs. If they manage to win both games, they tie with Team Liquid at second position. If they lose both games, it will be another three-way-tie with Nex Impetus and Lions' Pride. iCCup and When in Mood are definitely out of the competition.

Group B:

As expected, Teams Empire and dignitas lead their group, both with a 6-1 record. While 4 Friends+Chrillee secured themselves third place, mTw could technically still be tied with HWA.Kingston if they manage to win their game against NEXT.kz, who, alongside Kaipi and pain.Gaming, are definitely out of the competition.

Group C:

No Tidehunter is the only team that's sure to advance. Their match against Evil Genuises will decide whether it's going to be a three-way-tie or even a four-way-tie, seeing as EG could still get a score of 4-3, which would tie them with Turtle Masters, dd.dota and Gamer University.

Group D:

Fnatic.EU prevailed with a perfect record and are standing at the top of their group. Second place has yet to be decided with both Na'Vi and 3DMAX having a 5-2 score, therefore forced to play a tiebreaker. That both of them advance alongside Absolute Legends Main is a sure thing.
