DK recover to take G-1 series against LGD

DK at WCG 2012 (Super, Rotk/kungfupanda, Dai/MMY, 357/QQQ, Burning)

After going one game down in a tense and drawn-out 90 minute defeat, DK bounced back in games two and three to take the series against LGD 2-1 and set up an upper bracket final against the undefeated Invictus Gaming at G-1 Champions League.

Spoilers aside, game one between LGD and DK was a game that could have went either way. While LGD seemed to have held the upper hand for the most part of the game after 30 minutes with constant pressure and map control, DK was not prepared to give up their base with constant buybacks from Slardar, Queen of Pain and Leshrac throughout the late game.

Burning's Slardar slowly fell behind in terms of farm and was unable to recover throughout the whole game, playing more of a tank and damage absorbing role in fights as opposed to a dps carry. Meanwhile, Super's Queen of Pain took up that role, giving DK brief moments of hope as LGD found themselves falling to the physical damage of Queen of Pain whenever she was not focused.

With two barracks down on both sides at 80 minutes, the game boiled down to which team was able to position themselves and get the advantage in fights as buybacks became a crucial factor for both teams.

Ultimately, LGD was the team that made the pick off when Queen of Pain died twice without rebuy and DK had to concede the first game at exactly 90 minutes.

LGD hoped to close out the series with an unorthodox Alchemist and Keeper of the Light neutral strategy which gave them the gold advantage early on which they eventually lost as Super's Templar Assassin got out of control after ten minutes.

DK took the second game in a convincing fashion to which LGD was unable to recover from and forfeited the game at 23 minutes with Templar Assassin on an 11-0 kill score.

Opting to leave top lane open and concentrate pressure on LGD's bottom lane, DK was able to accelerate Burning's farm in the early game, with a ten minute Battlefury and a Vladmir's Offering and Power Treads to follow at eighteen minutes.

While LGD did a decent job pushing towers and picking off heroes on DK's lineup, they were unable to prevent Anti-Mage's split push as DK soon started to turn fights around when Anti-Mage joined the team.

With an additional Manta Style, Black King Bar and Aegis on Burning at 30 minutes, LGD could not defend against DK's mid barracks attempt and they called the GG, giving the win over to DK.

The first team to be eliminated from the playoffs will be decided tomorrow, when Malaysian powerhouse MUFC takes on amateur team Flash from Singapore. The best of three series will kick off at 13:00 CET. Meanwhile, check out available vods of G-1 tournament so far.
