The Frenchman’s contract runs out in September and one name has been linked to him more than any other. According to Slasher and his inside sources, Evil Geniuses are the current highest bidders.
When his time with Millenium comes to end, Ilyes ‘Stephano’ Satouri probably won’t be without a team for too long. Slasher from Gamespot released information that, according to a team executive, the transfer is “pretty much a done deal with Evil Geniuses.” Millenium eSports Manager Jean-Marc "Bjoran" Gaudin has confirmed that the Zerg player will not extend his contract that is running out on September first.
Stephano is the one non-Korean player with the highest prize money earnings in his tournament record, winning events such as NASL Season 3, ESWC 2011, IPL 3 and several second and third places. He has also most recently stayed with the EG players in their team house in Arizona during his trip to US events, leaving people rumoring about an upcoming transfer for the past couple of months.
While his extraordinary track record makes him out to be one of the top foreign players, the situation at hand reminds some of the Millenium/Complexity debacle of 2011, during which Complexity announced that Stephano would join the North American team, which Millenium later denied, saying Stephano had extended the contract with them beforehand. Ironically, EG manager Alex Garfield mediated between the two teams to have them come to the conclusion that Stephano would stay with Millenium and pay a fine.
