Tasteless: “The US is a second world country”

Nick ‘Tasteless’ Plott finally took the time to sit down with JP McDaniels for his Real Talk series and shares a rare insight into his life. He talks about his family, growing up with Day9, his move to Korea and the process of becoming one of the most beloved characters in the scene.

Nick “Tasteless” Plott is probably on of the more reclusive StarCraft personalities so fans have anxiously waited for him to open up and talk in the public sphere. In the over an hour and a half long interview he responds to questions about his childhood, his rise as a player and a caster as well as his current life in Korea.

He explains how travelling and experiencing new countries and cultures has always come naturally to him since he was born in France to his journalist father. His choice to move to Korea when given the opportunity was thus an easy one to make, also given his dislike for America. He makes out djWHEAT as one of his mentors in his early stages of casting and shares a few personal stories about his own life and those who accompanied him on his way.

When asked about the recent criticism about his casting, he responds that you can’t compare his knowledge of a game he played for over five years to a game that isn’t even entirely figured out yet. He goes on to declare the GSL the best produced eSports show currently available and that he takes pride to be part of it since its inception as a StarCraft 2 league.
