MPL PH Season 17 Regular Season recap - Team Liquid PH claim top seed

Team Liquid PH have been the most dominant team in MPL PH Season 17 so far, winning 13 out of their 14 matches in the Regular Season.

Team Liquid PH (TL PH) are in prime position to claim their third straight Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) title after claiming the top seed of the Regular Season of MPL PH Season 17. TL PH finished the Regular Season with a dominant 13-1 series record, which also earned them an upper bracket semifinals berth in the Playoffs.

Team Falcons PH join TL PH in the upper bracket semifinals as the second seed, having finished the Regular Season with a 12-2 series record. Meanwhile, ONIC Philippines, Omega Esports, Twisted Minds PH (TM PH), and Aurora Gaming PH qualified for the Play-Ins while AP.Bren and TNC Pro Team have had their seasons end early.

Read on for a breakdown for all the action in the MPL Philippines Season 17 Regular Season:

TL PH, Falcons PH dominate the Regular Season

TL PH and Falcons PH both looked a level above the rest of the field all throughout the MPL PH Season 17 Regular Season, being the only squads to secure double-digit series victories over the course of eight weeks of competition.

TL PH claimed the top seed with a 13-1 series record, winning 27 games and only dropping six. Their only series loss came at the hands of Falcons PH in a narrow 1-2 loss in Week 6, while AP.Bren and Aurora were the only other teams that could claim a game win over them. TL PH swept Omega, ONIC PH, TNC, and TM PH.

After their romp through the Regular Season of MPL PH Season 17, TL PH will be looking to continue their dominance over MPL PH by claiming their third straight domestic title and their fourth since joining the league in Season 13 in 2024.

Falcons PH stand as TL PH's biggest obstacle in their three-peat campaign. Falcons PH claimed the second seed with a 12-2 series record and a 26-8 game record, with their only series losses coming at the hands of TL PH in Week 2 and Omega in Week 7.

This notably marks the best Regular Season showing for Falcons PH in their three seasons in MPL PH so far, having only finished as the fourth seed in Season 15 and the sixth seed in Season 16. If Falcons PH can carry their momentum from the Regular Season onto the Playoffs, then they can finally make a splash in both their domestic league and the international scene.

ONIC PH, Omega, TM PH, and Aurora qualify for Play-Ins

While TL PH and Falcons PH sit comfortably in the Top 2 spots, ONIC PH, Omega, TM PH, and Aurora have had to fight tooth and nail to stay within the Top 6 and qualify for the Play-Ins.

Among the Play-In teams, ONIC PH have looked the best, finishing the Regular Season as the third seed with a 9-5 record–the only other team aside from TL PH and Falcons PH with more series wins than losses. Omega and TM PH both finished the Regular Season with 6-8 records apiece, with Omega claiming the higher seed with a better game record at 15-19 compared to TM PH's 13-20 standing.

Aurora PH round out the list of four Play-In teams with a middling 5-9 record, a surprising result when considering they are the reigning world champions. After a slump that extended from Week 3 to Week 7, where they won just one match out of the seven they played in that span, Aurora PH bounced back with back-to-back victories over Omega and AP.Bren to secure their spot in the Play-Ins. Whether they can play themselves back into championship form moving forward or not remains to be seen.

AP.Bren and TNC end their season early

MPL PH Season 17 ended early for the bottom two teams of the Regular Season: AP.Bren and TNC, who only managed 3-11 and 2-12 series records, respectively.

This marks the third straight season that AP.Bren have failed to even make it to the Play-Ins, having finished as the eighth seed in Season 16 and the seventh seed in Season 15. As for TNC, they have fallen from being a Play-In squad in the last two seasons to finishing dead last in the league.

Here are the final standings for the MPL PH Season 17 Regular Season:

  1. Team Liquid PH: 13-1 (27-6)
  2. Team Falcons PH: 12-2 (26-8)
  3. ONIC Philippines: 9-5 (20-13)
  4. Omega Esports: 6-8 (15-19)
  5. Twisted Minds PH: 6-8 (13-20)
  6. Aurora Gaming PH: 5-9 (15-20)
  7. AP.Bren: 3-11 (10-24)
  8. TNC Pro Team: 2-12 (8-24)
