MPL ID Season 12: A messy Week 4 as the new patch comes in

Week 4 of MPL ID saw some rather colossal series, with the new patch breathing life into the likes of Alter EGO, amongst others.

It has been a huge Week 4 of the Mobile Legends Professional League’s twelfth season in Indonesia, especially for Alter Ego, who found their first win and did not stop there. For RRQ, their perfect season came crashing down in Week 3, and it was another poor showing from them this time around – as ONIC Esports closed the gap.

Alter Ego’s resurgence

After five losses in a row through the Regular Season, Alter Ego finally came to life in MPL ID, winning all three of their series this weekend in flawless fashion. Between the new patch and Irithel picks, AE began with a crucial victory over DEWA United Esports, before following that up with a huge upset over Rex Regum Qeon and another vital win against AURA Fire. While still in the relegation zone, the wins definitely give the team some much-needed breathing room near the bottom of the table – especially since Week 5 has them scheduled for four extremely tough series.

RRQ struggle again

Although they did beat DEWA to close out Week 4, RRQ seems to have lost their footing after the shock defeat by Geek Fam ID in Week 3. The team seemed to not have a grasp on the new patch when they stole the Irithel away from AE, and it showed that they were maybe not evolving to the new meta well. However, by Sunday they seemed to understand their choices again, playing as we are used to seeing them and coming out on top. With ONIC now ahead of them, the second half of Season 12 will be crucial for RRQ.

EVOS Legends on the decline

Another team not doing great is EVOS Legends, who suffered two loses this past weekend, one being to Rebellion Zion, with The Robots conquered them too. As the season continues, it is interesting to see just how these teams play, with RBL bringing in a Gord pick, while the Gold Lane seems to be where a lot of changes are going on too – with Claude, Brody, Karrie, Beatrix, Clint, and many more being chosen. The White Tigers will need to adapt to this or get left behind in the second half of Season 12.

For what it is worth, Week 4 definitely gave us an eye-opening opportunity to see the power of the ID teams within a new patch, but Week 5 is going to be another one to watch. We will have more information about MPL ID Season 12 Week 5 in the coming days, with some massive series on the cards.
