MPL ID Season 12: The Kings of Kings control Week 1

With the first week of MPL ID Season 12 behind us, RRQ has come out swinging, with BTR and DEWA close on their tails.

Over the past four days, Week 1 of the Mobile Legends Professional League’s twelfth season in Indonesia got underway. We saw eight of the nine teams in action, with EVOS Legends being the odd one out for now, leaving two of the teams to play three times over the four-day period. For some, nothing went to plan, as they slumped to defeats, while others put their best foot forward.

RRQ is back

After a poor Season 11, Rex Regum Qeon is back to their best, it would seem, as they commanded the Week 1 performances. The team faced three series, taking on their biggest rivals, ONIC Esports, AURA Fire, and Rebellion Zion. With a 100% win rate with Baxia, RRQ only dropped a single game – which came at the hands of the MSC and World Champions, leaving everyone in their wake as they secured three crucial victories overall. The benefits of Perdyansyah “Ferxiic” Kamaruddin became clear to see too, as RRQ swiftly earned back the love of the ID fans.

Keeping it close

Although it was the first time for Dewa United Esports in the MPL, the team put on a stunning show in its opening week, taking two huge victories – with Supriadi Dwi “Watt” Putra proving that he still has every single bit of talent that he had before. However, Week 2 is definitely where we will get a better grasp on DEWA, as they face two of the most formidable challengers.

On that note, Bigetron Alpha got themselves off to a sturdy start to Season 12 with two telling victories. Although Geek Fam ID managed to take a game off them, the Robots replied with the fasted game of the weekend at 11 minutes, one minute faster than their own dismantling of Alter Ego the following day.

Week 1 struggles

Unfortunately for a few teams, Week 1 saw their struggles continue, with two losses recorded for Alter Ego Esports, AURA FIRE , and GFID. Although all three of these teams have a chance to bounce back over the next seven-week period, slow starts definitely cause major problems as others blast ahead.

With that in mind, ONIC will want to put their loss behind them and focus on the coming weeks, while RBL will want to do exactly the same, as they failed to capitalise on a fantastic opening day performance through the rest of the weekend. With the meta still forming, teams will have a few days to look to the drawing board before MPL ID Season 12 Week 2 kicks off on Thursday.
