ID and PH head to the Women's MLBB SEA Games grand final

With the Group Stage of the Women’s MLBB tournament at the 32nd SEA Games over, it was time to focus on the semi-finals.

Having witnessed the demise of both Cambodia and Laos through the Group Stage of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women’s event at the 32nd Southeast Asia Games, it was now time to look towards the semi-finals, where two teams would move forward into the finals where they will fight it out for a gold medal. Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines were the four remaining teams, all fighting for a gold medal spot, but by the end of today, only two would remain in contention.

ID went into their semi-final match up against the Vietnamese squad with a spring in their step, looking poised to take victory. With an unbeaten group stage record behind them, the ID squad were already favourites to take the win, and there seemed nothing that VN could do to stop them. It was two swift games, taking only 10-minutes each, which decided the first semi-final, as ID stomped their way into the grand finals.

Following an elongated break due to technical issues, it was time for the second semi-final to get underway, as MY and PH went head-to-head. According to the Team PH coach, this was the matchup which they were hoping for, as the two teams went in search of a guaranteed silver placement at least. Going into the series, it was MY who began on the front foot, as they were looking to cause a huge upset and take out the reigning champions.

Unfortunately for MY, PH would find their footing, and managed to make an epic turnaround to closes out game one. Game two would begin in the exact same manner, with MY dominating every part of the Land of Dawn, leaving PH to pick up the pieces constantly. With fantastic pickoffs, MY seemed destined to tie the series – but it was not to be. PH was able to pull themselves back into the game, and after a time, they secured the victory.

With a 2-0 scoreline, PH secured themselves a spot in the grand finals of the Women’s MLBB event at the SEA Games. They will face off against Indonesia in a best-of-five series on May 11th, after MY and VN play for the bronze medal.
