It's downright mad.

MAD Lions did the impossible earlier today when they reverse-swept Team BDS in the grand finals of the LEC Spring Split to clinch a spot in the Mid-Season Invitational. Despite dropping the first two games, MAD rallied in the third to force the series into all five rounds before dramatically winning it in the final match.

This is the second time in four years in the LEC the Spanish org has managed to qualify for MSI, which is quite impressive given the level of competition in the region. And to add to the difficulty of qualifying for MSI this season, MAD started in the lower bracket against G2 Esports. And even though G2 had already qualified, they didn't make MAD's win against them any easier, going through all five games.

The team's display against Team Vitality was a lot more straightforward with MAD exacting revenge against Vitality after their opening group stage match, in which Vitality won 2-0. The road to the grand finals was not easy for MAD, who managed to pull off a fairytale lower bracket run to clinch its third LEC title.

Their latest win will also go a long way in helping the team's cause as they push for a fourth consecutive appearance at Worlds. MAD has been one of the LEC's most exciting teams for some time now. Even if they are having an underwhelming season with no titles to speak of, they somehow still find a way to qualify for Worlds.

And with this win, MAD became the number one seed from the LEC. This puts them directly in the bracket stage of MSI while G2, despite winning the Spring Split, will have to start from the Play-In Stage. As for Team BDS, they will have to contend with just the championship points. This will put them in a good spot for the LEC Finals, which will determine who goes to Worlds.

MSI 2023 is happening in a little over a week's time with all 13 teams fighting for a chance to lift the trophy.
