A few days after the completion of the group stage of the world championship, we bring you another S3WC-focused "Stats corner". Follow the trends after the first batch of games (41 to be specific) and be surprised at how Shen and Zed have 100% contested rate. Here, we will also list some fun facts as well as the most enjoyable VOD's from group stage.

Gambit Gaming vs. Samsung OZone
Vulcun vs. FnaticVOD
OMG vs. SKT T1VOD
Ozone vs. FnaticVOD
These games were picked under the premise of being underdog stories, but also highly entertaining. This week, we've learned that gods can bleed and that the strength gap of all regions have been thinning. While Vulcun performed somewhat inconsistently, they really showed the peak of their capabilities in their games against Fnatic. Furthermore, Fnatic and Gambit Gaming made Europe proud by knocking a game off of Ozone a piece. Finally, we had OMG hailing from China decisively eliminating SKT T1 and showing that all-stars may not have been the best representation of reasonable skill and Fnatic topping off their final game against Ozone.
Zyra's damage, objective control, and versatility gets her the most picked on the world stage in groups. Sona is a champion that will never fall off this list due to her sustain, incredible crowd control, and also versatility. New on this list includes Corki, the rising AD carry star, and Vi. With the new Trinity Force and various buffs, Corki topples many other choices now. Vi is a niche that has filled the roll of shutting down overly mobile mid laners, increasing her popularity.

Zed, Shen, and Ahri are a pain to play against and strategize around which is most likely what warrants their ban. All three of them are hard to duel when they get ahead, are very strong split pushers, and have high mobility and assassination potential (with the exception of Shen.)
Similarly, everyone wants to drag these traits in to disgruntle their opponents and split them in any way possible when rotations between lanes have become a greater skill for most teams on the world stage. Top 15 most contested: Blue = Picked, Red = Banned.

We once again have the Trinity Force to thank for Kog'Maw's absurd win rate, often played by Gambit Gaming's Genja. Even in the assassin heavy meta, the mobility provided allows for Kog'Maw to hit hard while still being self sufficient in peeling. Lee Sin trails directly behind him not only due to his versatility, but because better Lee Sin players flood Worlds, allowing them to utilize the potential of the champion.
Surprisingly, we have incredibly unsuspected "lowest win rate" champions. Gragas, Thresh, Sona, Ereal, and Elise plague the bottom 5 on the boards despite their high versatility. One could suspect that though they are strong champions, they may not be the comfort picks for many.

- 68 champions have been picked or banned during the group stage
- Mineski is the team to have picked the most champions - 27. Next are OMG with 26
- Lemondogs is the team to have picked the least champions - 19.
- Ozone is the team with the most concentrated ban list. During the group stage, they've only been banning 6 champions - Lee Sin, Zed, Thresh, Caitlyn, Vayne, Singed and Shen
- Ziggs is the only champion to be banned but never picked. He was targeted by Gaming Gear EU
