First DHW13 details announced

?
It is the most established and prestigious HoN tournament in the entire year - DreamHack Winter 2013. This time a grand total of ten teams will compete for the coveted DreamHack Championship with challengers from the Nordic region, the reigning Champs, two Garena teams and three NA/EU squads.

The wait is finally over. After weeks and weeks of speculation and fear that DreamHack Winter 2013 might go down without a HoN tournament, some details for the actual event and the road to it got released earlier today. A total of ten teams will travel to Jönköping, Sweden to be a part of the eight edition of HoN at DreamHack. The biggest change from the last three installments is the increased number of NA/EU teams. A total of eight teams will come to represent the strongers region in Newerth, only balanced out by two Garena representatives. So most likely a SEA team and one CIS team to go up against the powerhouses of North America, Sweden and the rest of Europe.

Another massive change is the return of the BYOC tournaments back to the world of Newerth. The last time the big HoN tournament at DreamHack had such a pre-tournament implemented was at DreamHack Summer 2012 when It's Gosu emerged out of it, but had to forfeit essentially all their games due to the exhausting and conflicting schedule with another HoN tournament hosted. On top of the BYOC, another set of home field advantages is build into the system with a special Swedish-Nordic qualifier bringing two teams to DreamHack as well. The entire qualifier will be hosted by DreamHack themselves, will be an open online mode and grant two teams entry - more details to follow.

The other three spots open will be determined in the usual fashion, just like the last time. A big qualifier will be hosted through the automated system of HoN Tour and in the end three worthy teams from the pinnacle of the international HoN scene will not only get an invite to the tournament, but also get the coveted $4,000 USD travel stipend.

The chase for a spot at DreamHack begins on Monday, October 7th with the first round of the first Single Elimination stage. After four total rounds in that stage, the field will be cut down to only eight teams standing, who will all compete in a group stage. From each group the best three teams will advance and face each other in a familiar deathmatch situation - as introduced to Newerth during the Destination DreamHoN tournament for DreamHack Winter 2012.

Only one team in the world can sit back and relax in that stage - stayGreen. The reinging and defending DreamHack Champion will get an direct invitation for the tournament and is all set to be the first team after fnatic to successfully defend a DreamHack title.
