The G-League regular season is in the books, the D1 regular brackets are played out so only the postseason content is on the horizon in the first cycle of SEA HoN Tour. While the G-League Finals are due this weekend, the D1 playoffs are already decided and four teams can call themselves G-League teams from now on.
iMpunity.Fire, Who We Are, Guilty Crown and The Star Boy Band have all lost their G-League status through the 15 rounds in the highest division of SEA HoN Tour, now their replacements are determined. While iMpunity.Earth, KaiD and Made in Thailand.Sorry Sorry marched into the bracket as the clear favorites and the overall top seeds of their region, the storylines centered around other teams early on.
The first day actually was all about the SEA teams, who aced their Thai foes and pushed all of them into the Lower Bracket right away. KaiD, MiTH, Punischer Heaven and 6ixty9 all dropped down, with Dasreich.Corps Fabulous, Sawadeekap Gaming, iMpunity.Earth and Team Troublemaker moving one step closer to the two necessary victories to get into G-League.
First teams to gain entry into that esteemed club were Sawadeekap Gaming, who got the better of their exchange against the Team Troublemaker in the second round. The team from Singapore edged out their opponents from Indonesia in straight sets and marched away from the first cycle of SEA HoN Tour with the runner-up accolades in the regular season and an unblemished record in the D1 playoffs.
The second team that made it into the G-League on the second day already was Dasreich.Corps Fabulous, who had a dreaded way through the playoffs, but made the best out of their opportunity. On paper it was probably the toughest possible path playing against the Thai top team of KaiD first, then getting the first seed from SEA with iMpunity.Earth. The team seemed unimpressed by the big names though and took down the tasks at hand in nail-biter series. Both matches went the distance, both times Dasreich.Corps Fabulous could fire on all cylinders once clutch was due to succeed.
Joining those two SEA teams in G-League are Made in Thailand and KaiD from the Thai region, leveling the regional distribution in the G-League once again. Both teams struggled at first, but then pulled ahead and finished strong. Made in Thailand first took out Punischer Heaven in a D1 Winner Bracket Finals rematch and then demolished Team Troublemaker, who were the ones responsible for their drop to the Lower Bracket in the playoffs in the first place.
KaiD first eliminated 6ixty9 from contention, then went on to crush the dreams of iMpunity.Earth once more. Just like in the SEA HoN Tour Qualifiers ImpE had two chances to seal the deal and clinch the G-League spot, but just like then they blew both opportunities yet again. They tried to pull out all the stops to not suffer that fate again, including unconventional picks like a Demented Shaman carry or a Valkyrie on the suicide slot, but in the end the consistency of KaiD was too much to handle for the flagship team with their new member xFreedom. They are now relegated to play at least one more cycle in the second division, while KaiD can go up against the big dogs of the SEA HoN Tour in fierce battles in G-League.
