Right after the dust has settled over the second cycle in the prestigious HoN Tour Diamond Division, one of the top teams makes an alteration in their roster. Lions eSports parted ways with their long time carry player Flensmeister and are now looking for a replacement.
It came as a bit of a surprise, but the news about Flensmeister and Lions eSports parting ways has been confirmed by the Sound Blaster Heroes League profile and Lions captain Handsken, who provided some insight into the decision towards Honcast.com. According to him the chemistry was just not there anymore, so the team decided to shake up the roster to maybe spark up some better results.
So far the team went into the HoN Tour Season as one of the top favorites to win the esteemed Diamond Division crown, but have only two 5th/6th place finishes to show for. The splendid results they had in the offseason by winning the AlienwareArena Europe and the HoN Invitational are almost forgotten already, based on the most recent results.
Now the team that has been fairly consistent with their roster has to go find a suitable replacement on the important carry spot. Since the beginning of HoN Tour Season 1 Lions eSports only went through one roster change prior to the replacement of Flensmeister, when Krebsen left the squad immediately after the HoN Tour Grand Finals in Las Vegas, Nevada. He got replaced by Jonassomfan in the process, manning the suicide slot on the roster.
Most recently the former carry player of Vietnamese Dream Team, Pewe, has been spotted in scrims with the Lions - and also in the official Sound Blaster Heroes League Qualifiers today - but Handsken did not confirm this change yet. According to the Swedish player the team is currently evaluating possible replacements in tryouts, Pewe is merely the first one they put through that process.
The decision has to be made sooner rather than later though, with the third cycle of the Diamond Division on the horizon. Lions needs to turn it around there and a fresh player might give them an extra boost of motivation to shape up their game. So far the squad produced in the offseason and had amazing performances in scrims, but couldn't translate those performances into the actual HoN Tour matches.
Flensmeister on the other side is also looking for a new competitive home and has been signed up for the Sound Blaster Heroes League team of brb 3 min alongside notable players like Panny and PaziMetak. The first outing of the squad was not successful though, as they lost their first round matchup today against Too Much Sugar. Lions eSports on the other side had more success with Pewe and won the contest against Ice Cream Club rather decisively.
