Orange eSports and Turtle Master are the clear winners of the first six days of fierce G-League competition in SEA HoN Tour. Both teams are yet to lose a match, the only thing seperating those teams is the penalty that was issued against Orange eSports last week.
The HoN Tour season in SEA is starting to pick up the pace with the battle for the playoffs and to avoid demotion is starting to intensify. On the top scale of the rankings are currently Turtle Master who have not lost a Bo2 series and are sitting comfortably on top of the standings with 16 points and a two point cushion against their Thai rivals of Neolution eSports.MRR.
The reason why Turtle Master is so far up is a result of today's matches, were TurM dominated the decimated squad of iMpunity.Storm in a battle for the undisputed first place in the standings. The Turtles showcased their incredibly good play on both maps against NoVa and his team, winning decisively with 2-0. It was not only a major milestone for TurM, but also the first ever competitive loss for the new team of iMpunity.Storm, who had made it through the qualifiers without dropping a map. The only map losses in G-League came against Orange eSports and Step Gods, until Turtle Master finally dropped the team on both maps.
The second place currently goes to Neolution eSports.MRR - only because of the point deduction of the Malaysian powerhouse Orange eSports for unsportsmanlike conduct. Otherwise ORGE would have been tied with TurM on the top spot with Neolution eSports.MRR having some catch up to do.
Despite the penalty, Orange eSports has kept it's composure and released their frustration about the deduction upon their enemies. No foe could even come close to Orange eSports ever since game against iMpunity.Storm - that ultimately let to the admin ruling against ORGE. The squad might be back three points towards the other dominant team of TurM, but since those two teams are currently dominating the division at will, the season ultimately might come down to a clash between those two heavyweights.
Until then the teams with playoff hopes still alive will battle it out against every single team in order to make it into the coveted Top Four spots to proceed into the postseason. The fourth place is currently tied between ImpS and Anti Moon Queen, but a battle between those two teams in Round 14 might be the ultimate showdown for the last place in the playoffs - only one day before the regular season ends.
Other teams like Open House Party, Step Gods and even FunFunPlace and Brix are also still in the hunt for the fourth place finish, as the G-League is currently divided into nine teams competing for the playoffs and seven teams scrambling to make it into safe waters - away from the dreaded last four spots.
Those are currently occupied by Who We Are, Guilty Crown, Gspeed AVI and The Star Boy Band, while iMpunity.Fire, 2nd Runner Up and the SEA team of Vietnam minion Team only have a cushion of one point towards that area. The biggest winner of today was The Star Boy Band in the direct clash with demotion rival iMpunity.Fire. The squad that was the surprise of the Thai Qualifiers made ImpF pay for every little mistake and managed to claim their first victory in the G-League. The win elevated them from the lone 16th spot all the way to the 13th place - just one slot away from the safe slots.
Tomorrow G-League will continue with battles on the bottom and top of the rankings as Anti Moon Queen and Turtle Master square off, while Vietnam minion Team and Gspeed AVI both try to salvage their season and spark hope in their fanbase. Other notable matchups are Neolution eSports.MRR against Open House Party for a playoff spot, while the NA/EU warriors Emperor and NoVa try to lead their team out of the danger zone and back into the promise land - respectively. Emp and iMpunity.Fire will face off against the Thai team Step Gods, NoVa and his ImpS will take on 2nd Runner Up.
