Robadobah: "We have a lack of quality teams in ANZ"

Negative Synergy rolled through the ANZ region to qualify for the Spring Championship, but they understand that they're just a small fish being thrown into the ocean.

As of now the ANZ scene for HotS isn't all that developed yet, but if any team would be worthy of representing it on an international scale, Negative Synergy would be without a doubt. Not only have they run through the entire region seemingly with ease, but the players have a history with the game that is hard to come by. Robadobah and Sashin were a part of the original Team Immunity lineup to represent the region at last year's Americas qualifiers, with the rest of the team on other teams but not too far behind.

Earlier this month I was able to ask the team a few questions as they prepare for some of the toughest competition they have ever faced. When asked about the teams that they will be going up against, they said that they are confident that they could at least beat out the other smaller regions. They seem to be coming into this event looking to learn as much as they can, and hopefully use what they have learned to help the rest of the ANZ scene.

"After playing in ANZ for such a long time we are used to teams not playing to their full potential, so when we verse the best teams in the world, we need to know what they can do, and what we have to do to avoid it."

Talking about their success in the ANZ scene: "We believe we have the five best players in the region, and we also have the competitive experience to back that up." It's hard to deny their skill when Robadobah and Benjamin94 are consistently in the top 20 for Hero League on the American realm, but with the limitations of the local scene, they understand that there is a definite cap to the team skill that cannot easily be breached without looking to the other regions.

Negative Synergy went through the qualifier with relative ease.

They're not too worried about the way in which the region is developing, stating that with more competitions comes more teams willing to practice and get better. In the gap between the World Championship at Blizzcon last year and the announcement of the Spring Global Championship, there was next to no action in the ANZ scene for competitive Heroes of the Storm. The teams that existed then, namely Team Immunity and Exile5, disbanded with the players having no real motivation to stick together.

"There were quite a few good teams in the qualifier that had only formed about a month before the qualifiers, so it was good to see how they performed with limited experience and practice together. We think that the scene will continue to grow now that there will be recurring events from Blizzard as well as small community events."

Negative Synergy have been placed in Group B alongside the #2 seeds from China and North America EDward Gaming and Team Naventic, as well as the SEA representative Renovatio I. Regardless of how the results turn out, we can be assured that by sending Negative Synergy over to Korea, ANZ is sending the best their region has to offer. All the action will get under way starting April 1.
