As the Heroes scene continues to grow, yet another pro team finds partnership within big esports.
Team Tomorrow Big has been recently dominating the EU Heroes scene and that work has paid off in a big way. Announced today by Na'Vi, their newly formed Heroes division will include all previous members of Team Tomorrow Big: Cilium, CurriBoii, ethernalbg, Schimpi, Wubby, and Splendour.
As an esports organization Na'Vi needs know introduction. According to the COO of Na'Vi, Igor "caff" Sidorenko, the organization is very hopeful that Heroes of the Storm will continue to grow as a competitive title, and that the acquisition of TTB is "very important" to them. Understandably so, as TTB boasts an impressive 44 wins out of 48 tournament matches played, bringing the Na'Vi name front and center at the highest levels of Heroes competition.
My take away:
This is a truly win-win situation for both parties and these type of professional acquisitions serve to motivate unsigned teams even more. These types of opportunity won't last forever, as we are right in the middle of form-your-pro-heroes-team-now gold rush. While there will always be opportunity to disrupt the scene in the future by simply winning, that will be harder once tournaments start to become less about qualifiers and more about invitationals. The earliest stage of a game is where teams and organizations sow the seeds of long lasting partnerships that provide more benefits the longer they last. If you are serious about forming a Heroes team, now is the time.
As for the team formerly known as TTB? They now have the support and financial backing to focus full time, without any hesitations on becoming better. However the true test will be how the added pressure and responsibilities affect their tournament results. Traditionally, teams get better when they get signed, so I'm not too worried about it.
