The one-time LoL Challenger League team of Good Game LA is back in esports, but this time with a new game. The company has picked up names like Freshca, Tomflr and Aree to explore the world of Hearthstone.
Even to the avid League of Legends fan, the name ggLA might not mean much. Although it featured popular names in the scene like Quas (later a member of Team Curse and then Liquid) and Bischu, ggLA's time in the spotlight wasn't a long one. The team started its career with several Go4LoL victories before qualifying for the 2013 NACL season but a 7-10th place finish ended their hopes for an LCS spot and they were never see since.
Today, ggLA announced its return to competitive gaming, though they've moved on to other pastures. The American organization has signed five Hearthstone players, hoping to make a breakthrough in the world of TCGs.
Although Hearthstone is untested territory for ggLA, the players they've acquired are no greenhorns. Captaining the team is Travis "Freshca" Boyer, known for being a innovative deckbuilder and avid lover of fatigue decks, as well as the player on the top of the Nvidia Pro/Am standings. Next to him are Alex "Aree" Lee, champion of the 2015 HearthStats League and Australia's finest player Tom "tomflr" Finlayson, a semi-finalist from the recent Pinnacle 4.
The rest of the team includes two more high-legend players in Anthony "Ant" Trevino and Chance "Chance" Rebholz.
