The Sunday cup of NESL might be the more prestigious one with the King of the Hill entry ticket on the line, the little brother on Wednesday still attracts the high-profile North American studs, slugging it out in a smaller, yet competitive tournament. This time American zRusheR leads the charge and clinches the midweek title.
NESL cups are back in American hands! After seeing the duo from the "Great White North" of Canada winning NESL #11 and King of the Hill #6 with Twisted and NESL #13 going to Canadian modorra, the Americans struck back and bring both titles back to the United States. First TidesOfTime makes himself comfortable on the throne, now zRusheR wins against all competition on Wednesday. Red, white and blue celebrating, while zRusheR cashes $250 USD for his efforts.
On the path to victory zRusheR overcame Ligaiya, Quiescent, Wiked and SnipedAgain to get to the big game, in which he squared off against Atlanta for all the marbles. ManaGrind's own was able to make it, denying Atlanta his moment in the spotlight and on top. Prior to that he eliminated the last Canadian hope and former HoN and LoL professional player chu, getting him into his first Grand Final of a NESL cup.
Other stars and big names like the two top seeds going into the cup had to give up their hopes to win it all in earlier rounds. Top seed Luffy couldn't make it out of the Round of 32, second seed Alchemixt from DKMR found himself on the losing end in the quarterfinals. SnipedAgain proved to be too much to handle for the two-time NESL champion - most recently winning the ninth cup. Other notable sign ups like Ostkaka, Sunday's runner-up RomaNorgy, American spOh or Portuguese hope Ignite also couldn't muster to go on a long run, deep into the tournament.
Swede Ostkaka lost the quarterfinals to chu, right after eliminating RomaNorgy from contention. spOh couldn't make it past Round 2, losing to Mav, Ignite on the other hand got knocked out by SnipedAgain in Round 3. All notable and new players will get a chance to redeem themselves as soon as this Sunday, since the fifteenth edition of NESL's preseason cup is already open for sign ups here.
