[deck linked style=float:right;margin-left:15px;margin-bottom:10px;margin-right30px;]379[/deck]The seventh edition of the NESL King of the Hill tournament featured two Canadians and one American invite and a king in red, white and blue at the end. Popular streamer TidesOfTime eliminated both his foes and now thrones above all the NESL.
History repeats itself, especially in the NESL King of the Hill competition. TidesOfTime is following the proud tradition of Trump, Reynad and Amaz, who used their invite to the play-in matches to conquer the throne. The newest king of the format is the fourth one to not go through the big NESL Sunday cups, and is taking the crown away from the only person to ever springboard from the Sunday title to the throne.
Before TidesOfTime was even eligible to challenge Twisted, he had to overcome the new NESL #13 champ in modorra. The young Canadian struggled to get anything going right off the bat, getting himself into unfavorable matchups, having only a limited set of deck options at his disposal and drawing horrendously. TidesOfTime and his control Warrior shut down the Zoo aggression rather decisively, pushed the issue early against a Shaman deck not playing creatures for a long time and a Hunter aggro deck, barely scratching the thick armor of Garrosh. A one-sided and clear 3-0 victory for the former Dota 2 professional, leading him to the big clash.
The Grand Finals for the crown of the NESL kingdom turned into an affair that tied the viewers to their seats. First it was TidesOfTime Druid taking out the Handlock of Twisted despite miscalculating lethal. Moments later the tides were turned when Twisted had a dominant board position with his Shaman deck, dwindling the life totals of TidesOfTime down turn by turn, ultimately finishing him off with a Rockbitten Doomhammer straight to the face.
Unfortunately for Twisted the next deck was the staple Shaman deck by TidesOfTime, the same deck the former Dignitas player has become known for on the ladder. Why that is the case became clear throughout the next two matches, as TidesOfTime showcased deck's tremendous burst potential. In the mirror match it was the Rockbiter Doomhammer into two Lava Burst finishing off the Canadian and in the unfavorable matchup against Hunter it was Rockbiter, Flame Tongue Totem and Windfury guiding the elements and TidesOfTime to victory. Both times it was out of nowhere, both times the surprised face of Twisted in the webcam told the tale.
TidesOfTime can now sit and wait on his throne for an entire week, waiting for his new challenger to come in. Twisted and Modorra will return back to the two weekly cups, trying to bolster their point totals in the rankings and get another opportunity to become king of NESL.
