PPN Leaves US Market

The upheaval in the U.S. online poker market increased this week with news that one of the poker rooms that had assured players they had done nothing wrong and would remain serving the U.S. market, Poker Players Network (PPN) is now shifting their focus to the European market and leaving the Cake Poker Network.

PPN will change it's URL to PPNpoker.eu and move to a proprietary network as part of the move.

As of midnight EST on August 31, PPN will no longer be accepting US player registrations. The interesting twist that other poker rooms leaving the U.S. market have also followed is that they will continue to serve pre-existing U.S. based players.

Accompanying the change will be the roll out of new proprietary software that will introduce live dealers and "dealer's choice" games to their present offerings.
“We here at PPN are dedicated to improving our software, creating a safe environment for players to compete, and encouraging our pros to be available to customers at all stake levels,” said CEO Chuck Kidd. “It’s been a lot of work, but what we’re introducing later this year should turn the online poker industry on its head.”
If players have confusion, it's understandable as just last month Kidd had told multiple news outlets that his site would be staying in the U.S. as it was not violating any laws. Kidd also made an about face after steadfastly defending sponsored pro and World Series of Poker Main Event winner Jamie Gold, the two parted ways earlier in 2011.

PPNpoker team members that will be making the move with the site to the new URL and new network include 2010 Belgian POY Kevin “Civell” Vandersmissen, Neil Stewart, Neil McFayden, Matias Gabrenja, Stefan Mattsson, Vincent “Diamond 8″ Gabel, Michael “swisstard” Scheurpf, James Worth, and others.
