Scott Seiver Wins WPT World Championship

Scott Seiver finally broke through in the biggest World Poker Tour event of the year, taking down the $25k buy-in season ending World Championship at the Bellagio in Las Vegas for over $1.6 million. Heads-up, Seiver defeated Farzad Bonyadi fairly quickly who settled for a million dollar payday for second.

Seiver held a 3-1 chip advantage at the start of heads-up play and never reliquished his lead when the end of the match came when the money went in on a 10,6,2,Q,K board with Bonyadi holding QT for two pair to Seiver’s J9 for a straight.

Seiver joins an elite group of the WPT Champions that includes David Williams, Carlos Mortensen, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, and David Chiu.

"The WPT is something that has always eluded me and technically I know it doesn’t really matter and all tournaments are the same and you’re always trying to win, but it is really special to me to finally win a WPT."
