Doctor Doom is coming to Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and he is bringing a new game mode with him.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion is opening the gates to Castle Doom this autumn. Doctor Doom will take centre stage in The Siege of Castle Doom, a new paid DLC expansion bringing an all-new game mode to Tribute Games' retro beat-'em-up.
Developer Tribute Games announced the expansion on 18 August, although they are keeping most of Doom's plans under wraps for now. The Siege of Castle Doom will be Marvel Cosmic Invasion's second paid DLC release following the Cyclops and The Thing content packs.
Details are deliberately thin at the moment, with no trailer, screenshots or gameplay footage accompanying the announcement. However, the timing gives Doom another appearance before Robert Downey Jr. brings the character to the big screen in Avengers: Doomsday this December.

What is Marvel Cosmic Invasion's The Siege of Castle Doom DLC?
The Siege of Castle Doom is a paid expansion built around Doctor Doom and an all-new game mode. According to a press release reported by Polygon, the DLC "will find the infamous Doctor Doom central to an all-new game mode arriving alongside two new playable characters."
Exactly what that mode involves is still under wraps. Tribute Games and Dotemu have also stopped short of confirming whether Doom himself will be playable, despite putting him front and centre in the expansion.
The two new fighters have not been revealed either. The last additions were Cyclops and The Thing, who joined the roster in May as the game's first DLC characters. That leaves plenty of possibilities for Castle Doom, particularly with Cosmic Invasion already mixing Marvel mainstays such as Spider-Man and Wolverine, with less obvious picks including Phyla-Vell and Beta Ray Bill.
