People are messing with Marvel Rivals config files to avoid losing Competitive points.
Marvel Rivals cheaters have found a new workaround to avoid losing Competitive points, much to the detriment of other players. A streamer named LytePk first called attention to the new cheating exploit in a social media post, saying that some players are messing with the game’s config files to leave matches without a penalty.
This allows the cheaters to avoid losing Competitive points upon being defeated in a match, while also avoiding a penalty for leaving a match while it’s running.
How are Marvel Rivals players leaving matches without getting penalised?
Marvel Rivals is reportedly experiencing a new wave of cheaters. Streamer LytePk said in a social media post that players “are intentionally abusing the cheating detection system to cancel games with no consequence when they are losing.”
The streamer then described how these players are working around the game’s anti-cheat systems: they simply leave a match mid-game to drag and drop config files into the Marvel Rivals folder. Tampered game files then cause the match to be cancelled automatically, without any penalties being handed to the cheater.
The cheaters can effectively leave a match without losing points in the game’s ranked Competitive mode upon defeat, or getting hit with cooldown penalties for leaving a match. That means these players can simply end games for everyone involved in a match without consequence.
According to LytePk, these issues had already impacted the streamer five times in a single stream. NetEase has in the past warned players against tampering with in-game files, even if it’s to do something so innocuous as downgrading visuals for better performance. At the time, it stated that players caught with modded game files would be served temporary suspensions or permanent in-game bans.
The developer has also issued a wave of bans affecting nearly 500 accounts using in-game cheats in the past. NetEase has not commented on this latest exploit just yet, however.

In other Marvel Rivals-related news, NetEase has announced new costumes coming to Cyclops, Phoenix, and Daredevil this 20 August, 2026. The skins are:

- Phoenix's Viridian Vogue
- Daredevil's Attorney at Law
These skins will drop towards the end of the week, and new trailers for the cosmetics are likely to follow.
