FGC streamer Maximilian Dood uninstalls Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls on PC over performance issues

Arc System Works has yet to share an update on the continuing woes of PC players.

The PC performance issues plaguing Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls continued through the weekend, eventually causing one of the biggest names in the fighting game community to uninstall the game during a livestream.

Maximilian “Maximilian Dood” Christiansen tried playing the PC version on stream on Sunday (9 August), but after repeatedly running into stuttering problems during matches, he eventually gave up and uninstalled it.

“You can’t get hard f****g combos with this sh, dude,” he said while attempting to play through the issues.

“This is bad, chat. I don't think I can play this anymore,” he finally said after the match finished. “It's making me like the game significantly less. The game is un-fun when we have to deal with all this. It's un-fun. It's fun coming up with solutions and stuff like that to issues, to combat, but you can't do anything. You just have to watch it stutter like crazy.”

“So yeah, I have come to the conclusion that I have to abandon the PC version. I think that’s it.” Maximilian Dood said the problems had become too frustrating to deal with and that the next time he streams Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls, he will be playing on PlayStation 5 instead. He then uninstalled the game from Steam, saying, “It’s not worth it.”

Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls PC reviews drop to Mostly Negative

Maximilian Dood’s decision comes only two days after the game’s launch, with PC players continuing to complain about performance problems and persistent stuttering.

Following its launch weekend, Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls has fallen from a Mixed rating on Steam to Mostly Negative, with only 38% of user reviews currently positive.

Although Arc System Works released fixes on launch day, players have continued to report problems. The developers have also acknowledged the issues on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account and Discord server, saying, “The team is actively investigating these reports.”

Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls PC stuttering is also affecting PS5 crossplay

The problems have become severe enough that they are also affecting crossplay between PC and PS5, with some PS5 players reporting the same stuttering when matched with PC players.

Reddit user Poetryisalive warned other PS5 players to turn off crossplay, claiming that when matched against affected PC players, “you will be playing slow motion.”

According to a report by Kotaku, some players have claimed that simply launching the game on Epic Store can improve performance on PC. Having tested the fix out, Kotaku noted that the improvements were genuinely significant.

Arc System works has yet to post an update on the issues on PC.
