Fortnite's Hot Bat Summer swimsuit skins spark reactions in Epic's hottest DC Comics collab yet

Looks like Fortnite's dress code just got a little more relaxed.

Epic Games is turning up the heat in Fortnite with Hot Bat Summer, bringing Batman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy to the island in beach-ready looks as part of the upcoming DC collaboration.

The sizzling new cosmetics have already caught plenty of attention, not just because they're sending some of DC's biggest names to the beach, but because many players think they're among the scintillating skins Fortnite has released so far. It's a surprising move for a game that has usually played it safe with licensed cosmetics, even when adapting characters known for far more revealing designs.

Here's everything you need to know about the Fortnite Hot Bat Summer collaboration, including which characters are getting new skins, when they're expected to arrive, how much they could cost, and how players are reacting to Epic Games' latest cosmetic reveal.

Which characters are included in Fortnite's Hot Bat Summer skins?

The crossover introduces summer-themed versions of Batman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy, all sporting beachwear-inspired outfits. The update will also introduce the new Mythic Batman Sprite, while Ace the Bat-Hound joins Fortnite as the game's latest Sidekick. Alongside the announcement, Epic shared the first official artwork for the collaboration, giving players a closer look at the new cosmetics before they arrive in the Item Shop.

Fortnite Hot Bat Summer skins catch players off guard

It didn't take long for Hot Bat Summer to heat up on Reddit, with plenty of players pointing out that the DC collaboration appears to feature some of Fortnite's most revealing cosmetics yet. "These have to be the most revealing skins Fortnite had so far, right?" Reddit user Dino-taicho wrote. Another player, Ohmytummyhurts, shared a similar view, writing, "I can’t be the only one who feels like these skins are much more revealing than what Fortnite usually puts out." They added that the cosmetics would likely sell well for exactly that reason.

Others believed the collaboration reflected a wider trend across hero shooters. Reddit users AreYouDeadYet9 and RPtheFP speculated that the popularity of Marvel Rivals' recent summer skins may have encouraged Epic Games to turn up the heat with its own crossover cosmetics.

Not everyone agreed, however. Reddit user Primelysane argued that the change may have started well before Hot Bat Summer. "It's actually the Kim Kardashian skin that sold abnormally well," they wrote. They suggested Fortnite's female character designs became noticeably more revealing after that release. For many players, though, the reveal was simply an unexpected surprise.

After years of crossover skins that generally toned down their source material, seeing Batman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman and Poison Ivy hit the beach in full summer attire wasn't on many fans' Fortnite bingo card.

It's unclear whether Hot Bat Summer is a glimpse at Fortnite's future crossover cosmetics or simply a one-off summer experiment. One thing's for certain: Hot Bat Summer has already swept the Fortnite community up in its heat wave.
