Warhammer 40,000 Dark Heresy launches Closed Beta for PC

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy's Closed Beta will be available until the game's official launch.

Owlcat Games has announced that Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy has launced its Closed Beta on PC for all players who purchased one of the game's Founder's Packs. As revealed by the developers during this year's Warhammer Skulls games showcase, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy's Closed Beta will be available until the game's launch, though an official release date has yet to be revealed.

Access to Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy's Closed Beta is open to all players that purchased any one of the four Founder's Packs available on the game's website. These include the Core Digital Pack for US$39.99, the Premium Digital Pack for US$49.99, the Developers Digital Pack for US$79, and the Collector's Edition for US$289.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy was previously available on early access for the first time during its Closed Alpha test last December for players that purchased the Developers Digital Pack and the Collector's Edition, with over 10,000 players participating in the Closed Alpha test.

What is Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy?

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy is an upcoming cRPG game by Owlcat Studios set in the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40,000, first announced during last year's Warhammer Skulls showcase

Players will step into the shoes of an acolyte of the Inquisition, one of the most powerful institutions within the Imperium of Man tasked with protecting it from both internal and external threats. Their mission is set within the Calixis Sector of the Imperium's Segmentum Obscurus, and they must gather a warband of agents from among the Imperium's many armed forces–and even a few Xenos rogues–to uncover conspiracies and heresies seeking to harm the Imperium.

As an agent of the Inquisition, players will make use of a choice-driven investigation system to uncover conspiracies, interrogate suspects, and root out heresy. Those choices will also test the players' loyalties to their companions, allies, and the Emperor himself. And should violence be the only course left available to advance your investigation–as often happens in the universe of Warhammer 40,000–then players can take control of their Inquistorial warband in tactical turn-based combat.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy is Owlcat Studio's second title set in the universe of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. Rogue Trader, which released back in December 2023, is still receiving support from Owlcat Games and will even receive its third DLC, titled the Infinite Museion, on 11 June, 2026 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
