A release date has finally been confirmed for the movie adaptation of Call of Duty, with the film releasing on 30 June 2028. The announcement was made through the official Call of Duty X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday (17 April SGT):

The Call of Duty live-action adaptation movie is releasing on 30 June, 2028 which is on 1 July SGT/AEST.

A press release from Paramount and Activision shared further details about the project. In their statement, they shared that they’re making a live-action Call of Duty film “designed to thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what fans love about the iconic series, while boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences.”

The live-action adaptation will be directed by Peter Berg, whose previous works include Hancock, Lone Survivor, Patriots Day, Friday Night Lights, Deep Water Horizon, and more. The script will be written by Peter Berg and Taylor Sheridan. Meanwhile, the producers include Peter Berg, Taylor Sheridan, David Glasser, and Rob Kostich. Paramount, the movie distributor behind films like Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Top Gun: Maverick, and Gladiator II, is set to take on the project after signing a deal with video game publisher Activision in 2025. No details about the cast have been revealed just yet.

Call of Duty (CoD) is a first-person shooter military video game franchise published by Activision, starting in 2003. The games were first developed by Infinity Ward, then by Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games, with the first game releasing in 2003, then expanding to 22 titles in the main series throughout the years. The most recent, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, was released on November 14, 2025.

Some free-to-play versions of the game were released, along with several spin-offs, and handheld and mobile games which were made by other developers. Overall, the Call of Duty franchise has reached more than 1 billion players and has generated over US$35 billion in lifetime revenue.
