There are no official plans to launch Hytale on Nintendo Switch 2, for now.
If you saw a Hytale game on the Nintendo eShop, you might be shocked to find that it's not the Hytale game specifically made by Hypixel Studios. In fact, Hypixel Studios might be suing the developers of the copycat title, according to CEO Simon Collins-Laflamme's response to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by user @rdj4014.
Is Hytale: Sandbox RPG the real Hytale?
In short, no. The copycat title, Hytale: Sandbox RPG, launched on the Nintendo eShop on 10 April. Developed by Rovi Ninen, it is priced at just US$4.99 until 24 April. Some content creators have shared some footage of the game to warn players of the differences as well:
Hytale, which originated from one of Minecraft’s most popular servers, Hypixel, has faced a turbulent development journey long before its eventual early access release. After being acquired by Riot Games, development slowed significantly, with only occasional updates reaching fans. This was followed by Riot eventually shutting down the project in 2025.
Things however, turned around in November 2025, when Riot confirmed it had sold the rights back to Collins-Laflamme, stating that this move “gives players the best chance to one day experience a revised version of the game they’ve been waiting for.”
Hytale officially launched in early access on PC on 13 January, with pre-orders surpassing one million. Hypixel Studios noted that the revenue generated was enough to fund up to two years of continued development. Since then, the game has steadily built momentum, with regular patches and updates helping it grow into one of 2026’s standout indie successes.
This isn’t the first time Rovi Ninen has been accused of copying indie titles. Following the success of CloverPit by Panik Arcade, the developer released Coin Pit, a similarly themed coin-based game. Panik Arcade warned players against purchasing the knock-off during its iOS release in September 2025, and issued another warning when it resurfaced on the Nintendo eShop in January 2026.
Will Hytale launch on Nintendo Switch or other consoles?
For now, there are no plans for the game to release in other consoles. In fact, cross-play was one of the hurdles the game encountered during its development phase with Riot Games. On top of that, devs have not shared any updates on the matter, and with Hypixel Studios returning to the game's original engine, a port remains to be seen.
