A fan has reportedly discovered a filming location for the highly-anticipated Elden Ring movie adaptation.
The live-action adaptation of Elden Ring is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated projects in modern gaming–and we may already have had a first look at its film set.
Content creator Throxtv reportedly spotted a statue of Queen Marika the Eternal out in the wild–presumably in England (as suggested by production details and the content creator himself). He shared several clips on his TikTok channel showing a detailed recreation of the Church of Marika, complete with ruined walls and a realistic statue positioned at the centre, all enclosed by fencing.
The footage quickly went viral, sparking excitement within the community. Some fans have already begun speculating about the direction of the adaptation, based on this unofficial glimpse.
Under one of the shared clips, a viewer commented that they hoped the story would centre on Vyke rather than the Tarnished, while another hoped it could reach the level of production that the iconic Lord of the Rings adaptations possessed. A commenter praised the set, noting that “it looks extremely accurate,” while a few others found it tacky.
There were mixed reactions, albeit from the TikTok comment section alone. Overall, anticipation is building rapidly around the reveal–though it was likely unintended by the production team.
At the time of writing, no release date for the Elden Ring film adaptation has been announced. However, with sets seemingly already constructed, filming may begin in the near future.

What is Elden Ring about?
If you have spent any time in gaming spaces online, it would be difficult to miss the presence of Elden Ring. Since its release five years ago, the game has sold over 30 million copies, and continues to maintain its popularity through subsequent DLC releases.
Elden Ring is a Soulslike dark fantasy RPG in which you play as a revived, exiled warrior tasked with defeating powerful demigods in order to become the Elden Lord–to put it simply.
The game’s mythology is vast and deeply written, partly thanks to the works of George R. R. Martin, known for his successful Game of Thrones novel and various other fantasy-themed worlds.
One of the foundational narratives of the Elden Ring universe centres on Queen Marika the Eternal–the very figure seen in the footage. She is a divine ruler who shattered the Elden Ring, plunging the world into chaos. Although introduced early in the game through brief references and interactions, her true nature is only gradually revealed towards the end.
Is there an Elden Ring movie?
Discussions of an Elden Ring film began as soon as the game rose to prominence, largely driven by fans captivated by its deep storytelling. However, it was not until May 2025 that a live-action adaptation was officially confirmed. Filmmaker Alex Garland pursued the project passionately and secured a deal with A24, in collaboration with Bandai Namco Entertainment.
Garland reportedly lobbied extensively for the project, preparing a 160-page script alongside an additional 40 pages of visual material. These were submitted to the game’s creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki of FromSoftware, for approval–which, evidently, was successful.
Adapting Elden Ring presents a considerable challenge, given its vast fanbase and the expectation for accuracy and quality. However, there is reason for confidence. On top of Garland’s solid filmmaking track record, he has described himself as a “superfan” of Elden Ring, revealing in an interview with IGN that he has completed multiple playthroughs of the game.
Who is Alex Garland?
Alex Garland is a prominent English writer and filmmaker. He first gained recognition with his novel The Beach, which was adapted into a film in 2000 starring Leonardo DiCaprio. He has since written and directed critically acclaimed works such as Ex Machina (2014) and Annihilation (2018), as well as contributing to 28 Years Later (2025), starring Cillian Murphy.
With a strong track record in dark, dystopian storytelling, Alex Garland brings considerable expertise to the equally grim world of Elden Ring as he works to bring it to live action.
