It's not an April Fool's joke anymore!
For the second year in a row, Pocketpair have doubled down on one of the strangest spin-offs tied to Palworld, confirming that Palworld: More Than Just Pals is still in development, and not an elaborate joke.
The update was shared via X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday (31 March), just ahead of April Fool’s Day:
Palworld: More than Just Pals
Release Date: TBA
Platforms: PC via Steam
Developer: Pocketpair Studios
What did Pocketpair reveal in the April Fool’s 2026 Palworld update?
Instead of a direct statement, the studio once again leaned into a staged skit to get the message across. The video opens with Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe seated with his back to the camera, fully absorbed in Slay the Spire II. As he continues playing, a member of the development team steps in, attempting to convince him to reconsider pushing forward with the project.
Mizobe, however, does not engage. The conversation plays out almost entirely on one side, with the CEO remaining silent and focused on his game. The exchange eventually winds down on a positive note, signalling that Palworld: More Than Just Pals is still moving ahead.
The clip also revisits footage from the original reveal trailer, giving another look at the game’s setting and direction. In it, the protagonist is shown interacting with Pals in a school environment, with each character expressing different personalities through flirtation and dating-style interactions.
What is Palworld: More Than Just Pals?
The project first appeared on 1 April 2024 as part of an April Fool’s reveal across X and YouTube. At the time, it was presented as a deliberately exaggerated spin on the Palworld formula, asking players whether they would “remain friends or fall in love” with their Pals, or “dismantle and eat them.” The description also noted that an “adult version will also be released,” reinforcing its joke-like framing. In the trailer though, there are no signs of dismantling and
Is Palworld: More Than Just Pals actually coming out?
For now, Palworld: More Than Just Pals remains without a release window, but Pocketpair’s latest update reinforces that the project is still moving forward. What started as a one-off concept has continued to resurface year after year, each time with a little more substance behind it. With the studio choosing to revisit it again ahead of April Fool’s, the message this time is consistent: this is no longer just a joke sitting in the background, but a project that Pocketpair is still actively working on.
