Cosy supernatural farming sim Grave Seasons officially launches in August, new trailer released

Make friends. Plant crops. Try not to die?

Cosy game Grave Seasons has been making the rounds online in the months since its reveal, thanks to its unique blend of Stardew Valley-like farming sim gameplay and horror-esque murder mystery storytelling. It’s the kind of combination you think wouldn’t work in a cosy game, but a new trailer released this week might be enough to change your mind:

Grave Seasons

Release date: 14 August, 2026

Platform: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch

Developer: Perfect Garbage

When is Grave Seasons coming out?

Game publisher Blumhouse Games and developer Perfect Garbage has officially announced a release date for Grave Seasons, a farming life simulator that asks players to solve a murder in a small town. During this week’s Xbox Partner Preview livestream, Perfect Garbage dropped a new trailer for the game, and revealed an impending demo to boot.

While the demo does not have a release date yet, we do know that the game is officially launching on 14 August, 2026, on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. The game is also set to launch on Nintendo Switch, but a release date for the platform was not confirmed this week.

What is Grave Seasons about?

Don’t let Grave Seasons’ Stardew Valley-like pixelated visuals and farming sim gameplay loop fool you–the game has a unique horror-related twist that sets it apart in the cosy game genre. The game’s official summary reads as such (via Steam):

“After a treacherous escape from jail, you’ve made it to your new home in Ashenridge, an idyllic town with some seriously unsettling vibes. While trying to establish your new farming life and embed yourself in the neighborhood, murders start to occur in the town, putting your new peaceful life at risk. Grave Seasons is a narrative led farming sim with a terrifying twist – someone in the town is a supernatural serial killer.”

In the game, players will meet and befriend a neighbourhood filled with interesting faces and colourful personalities. However, they’ll also have to stay on their guard–as each playthrough will randomly assign one of these townsfolk the role of a killer, whose identity the player must unmask over the course of the game. The trailer teases that supernatural shenanigans are afoot as well, so this is not likely to be a typical murder mystery. Where's Benoit Blanc when you need him, eh? Or Nancy Drew. Or Miss Marple. Or…

Grave Seasons will launch on 14 August, 2026, on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
