A new beat ‘em up set in the world of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is now in the works.
Tribute Games’ upcoming beat-’em-up video game Scott Pilgrim EX has secured a release date: 3 March, 2026. The game functions as a spiritual successor to Ubisoft’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, set in the far-flung future, where Scott’s hometown of Toronto, Canada has been taken over by three rival gangs.

Scott Pilgrim EX announces release date
Tribute Games, the game developer behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and Marvel Cosmic Invasion, has lined up its next beat-’em-up video game: Scott Pilgrim EX. The game was first announced in 2025 as the unexpected next installment in the Scott Pilgrim franchise, set long after the original Scott Pilgrim vs. The World graphic novels.
The new game is positioned as a spiritual sequel to the cult classic Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, with composer Amanaguchi returning to create the soundtrack. Scott Pilgrim EX also features beat-’em-up gameplay and retro pixel art, similar to the Ubisoft title. The game is also set long after the events of the graphic novels, with a dystopian take on its setting of Toronto, Canada.
Scott Pilgrim EX dropped a trailer to confirm the release date this week, which also confirmed two new playable characters: Matthew Patel from the League of Evil Exes, and Robot-01, a new creation of the Katayanagi Twins. Robot-01 can fly around the level and unleash long-range and melee attacks, while Matthew Patel can use fire-based attack combos.

Scott Pilgrim EX is an action-adventure game where players can fight as Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers and more as they battle through the fractured time and space of Toronto. The combat gameplay is driven by instinct and improvisation - a hectic ballet of fists and flair that rewards strategy, spontaneity, and a good bit of brawling chaos. String together stylish combos, experiment with wacky weapons and unleash over-the-top special attacks. Characters can be upgraded with special badges that enhance their stats and grant special bonuses. Players will explore a whole city of interconnected levels to meet old and new faces, complete quests, and discover hidden areas. Multiplayer co-op, local or online, lets up to four players join in on the action, making it a fun, dynamic experience.
Scott Pilgrim EX launches on 3 March, 2026, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
