Forza Horizon 6 launches in May, teases potential Gundam collaboration

Forza Horizon 6 confirms a 19 May launch date and seemingly teases a Gundam collaboration.

Playground Games has locked in the release date for Forza Horizon 6, with the game now set to launch on 19 May, 2026 for PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles, as revealed during the Xbox Developer Direct livestream. A PlayStation 5 release will follow at a later date, though no specific timeframe has been announced.

As previously revealed, Forza Horizon 6 will take passionate racers to the streets of Japan, featuring a Tokyo-inspired map as the game’s main city–described by developers as the franchise’s biggest and most intricate map to date. Other locations confirmed for this sixth Horizon installment include Mount Fuji and Hokkaido.

A collaboration with the Gundam franchise was also seemingly teased during the showcase.

Forza Horizon 6's new features revealed

During the Xbox Developer Direct livestream, Playground's developers unpacked an extensive list of new features coming to the racing game.

Forza Horizon 6 allows players to begin from scratch, starting their racing journey as a tourist in Japan before working their way up the ranks by joining the Horizon Festival and competing in qualifiers. Along the way, players will collect wristbands, upgrade their cars, and unlock exclusive regions.

In this installment, location takes centre stage as fans look forward to exploring the stunning map of Japan. The game's developers promise breathtaking scenery with vivid contrasts between rural and urban environments, allowing players to experience both the modern and traditional sides of the country.

The livestream also revealed new features, such as a proximity radar for competitive players and an auto-drive option for those who want to sit back and enjoy the scenery while on the move.

There will be even more to do in the open world, with major enhancements to building and multiplayer experiences. Players can now showcase their creativity through customisable garages, build anywhere on the map to add structures and decorations, and manage a massive plot of land called the Estate. This space can be decorated with buildings, structures, and cars, and also serves as a social hub where friends can hang out.

Building has also been made more engaging, with a new multiplayer feature that allows players to build together with friends.

Gundam is coming to Forza Horizon?

Despite the game still being months away from release, fans are already catching glimpses of a potential upcoming collaboration.

The Forza Horizon 6 trailer shown during the livestream included a brief clip toward the end, featuring a Gundam-like figure towering behind a car.

Gundam is a popular Japanese sci-fi mecha franchise that originated from a 1970s anime, and has maintained its popularity in modern times, appearing in more than 80 video games over the past few decades.

While Gundam has previously collaborated with major titles such as Call of Duty and Overwatch 2 last year, this would mark Forza Horizon’s first partnership with the franchise–if the tease shown in the trailer turns out to be true.
