The gameplay trailer brought a fresh look at the game, alongside the release window announcement.
Beast of Reincarnation made a return during today’s Xbox Developer Direct with a new Gameplay Reveal trailer and a confirmed summer release window. The action-RPG is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5, with day-one availability on Game Pass.
The project was first announced in May 2023 under the working title Project Bloom, revealed as a collaboration between Game Freak, best known for the Pokémon series, and publisher Private Division. It later received its official name and first proper gameplay showcase during the June 2025 Xbox Games Showcase. Today’s presentation builds on that reveal, by narrowing down when players can expect to explore its world.
Set in the year 4026, Beast of Reincarnation unfolds in a post-apocalyptic future Japan shaped by the spread of a corrupting force known as the blight. Urban ruins are wrapped in dense overgrowth, while mutated creatures and machines roam what remains of civilisation.
Players control Emma, a young woman afflicted by the blight but uniquely capable of sealing it within her own body. This ability allows her to purify corrupted beings, though it also marks her as an outcast. Her journey brings her together with Koo, a wolf-like creature suffering from the same corruption, and the pair is drawn into a quest to confront the legendary Beast of Reincarnation, the source of the blight devastating the world.
Beast of Reincarnation reveals new gameplay details
Combat centres on fast-paced action, with Emma switching between katana-based melee attacks and ranged bow combat against corrupted enemies known as Malefacts, as well as powerful boss monsters called Nushi. Koo supports Emma in battle with abilities that briefly slow time and open a turn-based-style command menu, allowing players to select actions before combat flow resumes.
The trailer also highlighted skill trees for both Emma and Koo, suggesting deeper progression and customisation. Additional scenes showcased factions such as mechanical golems that once housed human souls, alongside supporting characters Brad, Kagura, and Kunai. Traversal plays a key role too, with Emma using abilities that see her hair transform into vine-like tendrils, enabling rapid movement across large gaps and vertical terrain.
Beast of Reincarnation is scheduled to launch this summer on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5, arriving day one on Game Pass.
