Crimson Desert is headed for release on 19 March after over six years of development.
Korean developer Pearl Abyss has announced that Crimson Desert has officially “gone gold,” meaning that the game’s development is complete, and ready for the final steps of polishing before release. This milestone strongly suggests there will be no further delays, with fans now able to look forward to the scheduled launch on 19 March.
“We’re thrilled to announce that Crimson Desert has gone gold!” the game’s official account shared, inviting fans to join them in the game’s world Pywel on launch day.
Crimson Desert was originally planned for release in late 2025, but was later delayed to the first quarter of 2026. Pearl Abyss cited various production factors–such as voice-over work, console certification, and other finishing processes–as reasons for the delay.
Now that the game has officially gone gold, players can reasonably expect it to arrive on its planned 19 March, 2026 release date.
A look at Crimson Desert and its gameplay

Crimson Desert was initially conceived as a prequel to the popular Black Desert Online. However, over the course of development, it evolved into a standalone single-player experience set within the same universe, featuring new characters and an original narrative.
One of the most anticipated titles of 2026, Crimson Desert has spent over six years in development, fueling high expectations. The story follows Kliff and his fellow members of the Greymanes faction–Oongka, Yann, and Naira–as they attempt to rebuild after a brutal attack, and confront their rivals and the group responsible for the bloodbath, the Black Bears.
The adventure unfolds across Pywel, a vast open-world continent designed for deep exploration. The world features diverse biomes and environments, including bustling towns, ancient ruins, harsh deserts, and more. Players will have numerous traversal options, from riding on horseback, to flying dragons and piloting unique machines.
Crimson Desert has already received strong praise from early previews, and anticipation remains high for this upcoming action-adventure title.
The game will be released across multiple platforms, including macOS, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Windows via Steam. Pre-order options are now available, with prices ranging from US$69.99 all the way up to US$280 for the Collector’s Edition.
