One of Battlefield 6 Season 2’s new maps has been unveiled.
Electronic Arts has begun testing new changes and additions coming to Battlefield 6 Season 2 in Battlefield Labs, a closed version of the game meant for community testing, and thus only available to a select few participants.
In a community update post on its website, EA confirmed that these tests will include an all-new multiplayer map coming to Battlefield 6 Season 2. In addition to that, a rebuilt version of the Battlefield 4 map Golmud Railway is also in development.
More maps are coming to Battlefield 6
Battlefield 6 players yearning for new maps can breathe a sigh of relief. New maps are coming, including an all-new map set for release in Season 2 called Contaminated. The map is set to go into testing in Battlefield Labs, and is described as being somewhere “between Eastwood and Mirak Valley” in terms of size, and comparable to “maps such as St. Quentin Scar (Battlefield 1) or Arras (Battlefield V).”
That means this isn’t one of the bigger Battlefield 6 maps the community has been fervently asking for, but more maps are still on the way. A work-in-progress image of the map depicts a mountainous region with trees and war-torn bunkers.

Beyond Season 2, EA has also confirmed that it’s working on a remake of the Battlefield 4 map Golmud Railway. The map will be updated for Battlefield 6’s gameplay loop and setting, and is currently “being rebuilt for today's Battlefield, not simply ported forward.” EA stated that it wants to “preserve what made the map so memorable in Battlefield 4, particularly its combined arms gameplay, while improving how it plays and supports Battlefield 6 systems."
Interestingly, EA also confirmed that Golmud Railway is set to be the game’s “largest Battlefield 6 map to date, giving us the opportunity to expand gameplay on a larger scale.” That means players are indeed getting larger maps, though a release window for this particular map has not been shared just yet.
EA is also testing new gameplay elements beyond maps in Battlefield Labs, including Season 2’s new “AH-6 Little Bird vehicle.” Beyond Season 2, Battlefield Labs will also see testing on Aircraft Radar, described as “an important part of the aircraft gameplay experience,” along with changes to RPGs, TOW launchers, and rocket and vehicle interactions.
As far as Battlefield REDSEC goes, EA is still testing out a solo play mode, allowing players to drop into battle royale without a team. However, testing is still ongoing, and EA appears to be undecided on making it a permanent mode.
Battlefield 6 Season 2 will launch on 17 February, 2026, following a recent delay.
