Fallout's TV show production team has confirmed its plans to begin Season 3 filming as soon as next summer.
The Fallout TV series–an Amazon Prime show based on the role-playing game franchise of the same name–is set to begin filming its third season as early as next summer, as the production team opts for a quick release schedule.
Fallout Season 3 aims for a quick release
It was revealed in an interview by IGN with the show’s executive producer, Jonathan Nolan, who praised his team for working quickly to allow shorter gaps between seasons.
“In regards to season 3, we are hoping to be shooting again next summer. We’ll see if that comes together, best laid plans, and all. Our incredibly talented cast and crew were able to work quickly enough to get back on the air in a reasonable amount of time,” said Nolan.
The producer also expressed discontent with the lengthy waiting periods between seasons–a tendency in modern television that has drawn substantial criticism from the general public.
“I think what’s happened in television in terms of taking longer and longer from season to season is an unfortunate trend. You don’t want the show to lose any of its scope, but we know we would like to be on the air as soon as we can.”
This revelation comes just a week before the second season arrives, as Fallout Season 2 is set to air on 17 December. Despite setbacks caused by the tragic Los Angeles wildfires, which paused Fallout’s production in January, the team was able to keep pace and wrapped filming in May.
Fallout’s first season aired in April 2024, featuring Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten and Walton Goggins as the cast's centerpieces. With the second season coming this December and the third already planned for production next summer, the Fallout team is working quickly to keep fans of both the video game and the show engaged.
Fallout is a sci-fi drama set after a nuclear holocaust that occurs during the Great War of 2077. In its aftermath, survivors take refuge in fallout bunkers known as Vaults–one of which Lucy, the main character, called home before leaving to search for her father. Along her journey, she encounters two companions, each with their own history and goals.
Fallout Season 2 premieres on Amazon Prime Video on 17 December, 2025, with new episodes dropping weekly.
