Zeraora is about to get a Mega Evolution, but it’s not going to be an easy hunt.
Zeraora has just claimed the spotlight in the most electric way possible, with a Mega Evolution that looks ready to light up the whole of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The popular Electric-type is set to receive a Mega Evolution in the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC, revealed through a brand-new trailer posted on the official Pokémon account on X.
The footage gives a sharp look at its upgraded form, along with a small warning: players shouldn’t expect the encounter to be simple.
Trailer hints at a tough hunt for Mega Zeraora
Mega Zeraora sports a far more aggressive appearance, incorporating pale-blue energy flaring across its body while retaining hints of its original black-and-gold design. It cuts an impressive silhouette, but the trailer notes that catching it may require extra patience or a bit of luck.
A line accompanying the footage confirms this: “It looks like getting Mega Zeraora for your team will be a little difficult,” it reads, adding that players should keep watch for the right opportunity as they explore the Mega Dimension content.
The Pokémon Company also shared a detailed description of what powers this form packs. Mega Zeraora stores an immense amount of electrical energy, supposedly equal to ten lightning bolts with glowing protrusions on its forehead, chest, back and hands, marking the points where that energy is most concentrated. When it unleashes an attack after charging up, it can reportedly hit multiple nearby foes with overwhelming force.
According to the official Pokémon website, the Mega Evolution appears to remove the internal limiter that normally contains Zeraora’s electric energy. This allows it to “unleash powerful attacks that can take down multiple nearby opponents at once.” The site also notes that securing Mega Zeraora “might be a little difficult,” and players will need to keep an eye out for opportunities to encounter this Mythical Pokémon while exploring the Mega Dimension DLC.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A has already made players work for certain Mega Evolutions, with some forms introduced gradually through online battles or appearing after specific conditions are met. At the moment, it’s uncertain whether Mega Zeraora will be tied to a timed event, a progression milestone, or a late-game quest within the DLC.
Earlier promotional materials for the Mega Dimension DLC introduced Mega Chimecho and Mega Baxcalibur, and fans digging through the game’s files believe that roughly a dozen additional Mega Evolutions could appear once the expansion goes live.
The Mega Dimension DLC arrives on 10 December. Purchasing Mega Dimension unlocks special Holo-X and Holo-Y apparel sets for character customisation. Those who purchase the DLC before 28 February, 2026 will also receive a Luxurious Poké Ball Set, containing a variety of premium Poké Balls especially effective for catching rare Pokémon.
Mega Dimension will be available digitally on the Nintendo eShop for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, with pre-orders already live via the My Nintendo Store, which is offering exclusive physical pre-order bonuses.
