Apparently, there's such a thing as too much generosity in ARC Raiders.
Looks like the Raiders have been a little too enthusiastic about reaching Stella Montis. Embark Studios, the developer behind ARC Raiders, has increased the difficulty of its new community event, Breaking New Ground, after players progressed far quicker than expected. The change was announced on the game’s official Discord server less than 24 hours after the event first went live on 13 November.
Breaking New Ground progresses too fast
“Hey, Raiders! You have been progressing the unlock event much faster than we anticipated,” wrote one of the server’s moderators, Ossen. “We had no idea all of you would be so altruistic for the Stella Montis cause, and you are donating so much more than we could imagine,” they added.
According to the announcement, the team wanted the event to be something that players around the world could experience together, rather than something completed in a single region’s time zone. “We want this event to be experienced by Raiders all over the world, and therefore we are raising the bar to unlock Stella Montis expecting you to surprise us again.”
For those unfamiliar, the Breaking New Ground event brings the ARC Raiders community together by allowing players to donate resources in order to “clear out the tunnels” that supposedly lead to Stella Montis, a new map positioned further north of the existing play area. The event was designed as a global push, encouraging collaborative progress and giving players a taste of a shared objective with long-term map implications.
However, it seems that ARC Raiders have surpassed the developers’ expectations by quite some margin. The reset came earlier on Friday (14 November SGT), with PC Gamer’s Rory Norries noting that the community’s contribution progress had dropped from 8% back down to 1% following the adjustment. The rollback makes sense, considering THAT the materials required for the event, such as plastic parts, fabric, metal scraps, rubber parts, and chemicals, are all relatively common resources that most players naturally accumulate during regular sessions.
With the progress reset and a higher threshold to meet, Embark Studios is hoping that players from other regions will now have the chance to meaningfully participate over the weekend, rather than waking up to find the event already completed. In true ARC Raiders fashion, the fight for Stella Montis continues, just with a slightly steeper climb ahead.
