Escape From Duckov hits 300,000 concurrent players just days after selling one million copies

The flock’s only getting bigger.

Duck season’s in full swing. Escape From Duckov has officially crossed 300,000 concurrent players on Steam, only a few days after surpassing one million copies sold.

What started as a tongue-in-cheek parody of Escape From Tarkov has quickly become one of Steam’s biggest success stories this month, and it’s showing no signs of slowing its waddle.

As tracked by SteamDB, the game hit its 300,000 concurrent player peak on 26 October, just four days after the team announced one million copies sold on X:

The rise has been rapid, with Escape From Duckov launching on 16 October, and reaching 182,000 concurrent players and 500,000 sales by 20 October, before doubling that figure only two days later. For a game about ducks with guns, that’s an impressive flight path.

A flock of new fans joins the frenzy

Developed by Team Soda and published by Bilibili, Escape From Duckov brings a comedic yet thrilling spin to the extraction shooter genre.

Players waddle into the world of Duckov as an “Average Duck”, equipped with little more than a basic gun and sheer determination. Once outside the safety of your hideout, enemies lurk behind every bush, and scavenging becomes a matter of survival. The more you loot, craft, and upgrade, the closer you get to escaping Duckov… assuming you don’t get plucked first.

The game’s explosive growth has been led by players in China, where it’s racked up Overwhelmingly Positive reviews and perched firmly at the top of the Steam charts. However, the enthusiasm has since gone global. 96% of reviews across regions recommend the game, praising its sharp humour, unexpectedly deep gameplay, and endearing absurdity.

If you’ve yet to join the flock, Escape From Duckov is on sale for US$15.83 until 29 October, making it the perfect time to dive into the pond.

Escape From Duckov has shaken off its meme status and risen as a full-blown quacktical phenomenon, taking over Steam’s pond one waddle at a time.
