Halloween chaos hits Marvel Rivals as heroes face endless zombie hordes in its first PvE mode.
NetEase is kicking up the scare factor this Halloween with Marvel Zombies, the first PvE game mode for its popular hero shooter Marvel Rivals. Developed in collaboration with Marvel Animation, the new mode pits players against relentless hordes of undead in a chaotic, horror-themed battlefield.
Set to launch on 23 October (UTC), Marvel Zombies transforms the usual hero-versus-hero formula into a survival gauntlet straight out of a nightmare. Players can take control of Thor, Blade, Magik, Jeff the Land Shark, and The Punisher as they fend off endless waves of zombies while facing off against grotesque bosses like Zombie Namor and the Queen of the Dead.
Zombie bosses and chaos await in Marvel Rivals’ new co-op mode
In the official announcement trailer, Marvel Rivals Executive Producer Danny Koo explained that the new mode is designed to test teamwork and skill under extreme pressure.
“You’ll have to survive the horde, go toe-to-toe with Zombie Namor and the Queen of the Dead, and fight to save the world from getting totally zombified,” said Koo.
He added that each hero will have unique, enhanced abilities for this mode. For instance, Thor can shock enemies in his Awakened State, Blade can slice through the undead with his bouncing moon blades, while Magik can unleash chaos in her Unlimited Darkchilde Form. Koo described it as an opportunity to “showcase your epic combat skills against zombie swarms and tough bosses.”
Marvel Studios’ Brad Winderbaum, Head of Streaming, Television and Animation, also joined the reveal, saying that he was “dying to play it,” hinting at the excitement behind this animation-meets-gaming crossover.
The second half of the trailer shows sample gameplay where Jeff the Land Shark darting through mobs of zombies alongside Thor, Blade, Magik, and The Punisher, each using flashy moves and team combos to survive the assault. With the streets crawling with the undead and eerie lighting setting the stage, Marvel Zombies seems to promise plenty of Halloween chaos when it arrives later this month.
The event will go live globally on 23 October, giving players a new way to dive into Marvel Rivals just in time for the spooky season.
